Kathleene Flowers Merrell, 54, of Freeport, Fla., passed away on Saturday, June 8, 2013, at the home of her sister, Jean Young, in Lewisburg.
Mrs. Merrell was a native of Ohio, and was the daughter of Kenneth R. Flowers of Lawrenceburg and the late Deana G. Flowers. She was a 1977 graduate of Chauala High School in Chauala, Ala. She received a law degree in criminal justice following high school. She was a dedicated and beloved bus driver for South Walton County and Freeport, Fla.
In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Kenneth, Richard, and Daniel Flowers; one sister, Joyce Ogg; and a stepson, Robert L. Merrell Jr.
She is survived by her husband, Robert L. Merrell of Freeport, Fla.; one stepson, Christopher Merrell of Tampa, Fla.; one stepdaughter, Regina of Indiana; and seven stepgrandchildren.
Other survivors include three sisters, Susan Haney of Freeport, Fla., Janet Cunningham of Adjer, Ala., and Jean Young of Lewisburg; five brothers, Philip Flowers of Sommerset, Ohio, Robert Flowers of Bybee, Tenn., Andrew Flowers of Pulaski, and Mark and Keith Flowers of Petersburg; 15 nephews; seven nieces; several great-nieces and great-nephews; and several adopted animal friends.
Funeral services for Mrs. Merrell were Tuesday, June 11, from the Chapel of Bills-McGaugh Funeral Home, followed by burial in Antioch Cemetery in Elkmont, Ala., with Anthony Bledsoe officiating.
Serving as pallbearers were Jason Hill, Christopher Booker, Jason Cunningham, Joseph Cunningham, Shane Flowers, and Eric Flowers.
