Deaconess Katherine Hardin Mayes, 94, of Lewisburg, TN, passed on Monday, March 4, 2019. She was a faithful member of Greater First Baptist Church and the daughter of the late Marvin Hardin and Malinda Robertson Hardin.
She was a former employee of Gordon Hospital and a member of the Red Rose Garden Club.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sons; Willie Mayes, Sr. and Robert “Punk” Mayes; four sisters, Jennie Mai Mayes, Sallie Lue Gentry, Irish Nelson, and Mattie Campbell; five brothers; Marshall, Bedford, Marvin, Bobby and Robert Hardin.
She leaves cherished memories to her daughters; Catherine Russell, Wanda Mayes, Martha Mayes all of Lewisburg, and Emma Moore of Columbia; five sons, James (Joyce) Mayes, John (Melissa) Mayes, Barry (Sandra) Mayes, Marvin Mayes and Donald Mayes, all of Lewisburg; one sister, Nettie Harris; twenty-three grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 8, 2019, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Greater First Baptist Church. The funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, March 9, 2019, at 110 a.m. at the church. Interment will follow in Egypt Cemetery.
