John Steele "Rodge" Calloway, 71, of Cornersville, died Monday, Nov. 25, 2013, in NHC Healthcare Columbia.
Mr. Calloway was a native of Marshall County, and son of the late Meldon Richard "Foot" and Pauline "Polly" Steele Calloway. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam era. He was vice president of Holiday Inns in Houston, Texas, for many years; and 10 years before his retirement he was an inspector for Best Western Motels. In Marshall County he was well known as a driver for the Public Transportation. He was a member of the Cornersville Church of Christ.
He is survived by his son, Drew (Kristy) Calloway of Monteagle; two sisters, Rita (Ron) Stafford of Bothell, Wash. and Mary (Alfred "Ott") Holland of Nashville; grandson, Knox Steele Calloway; and four nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted Saturday, Nov. 30, from the Cornersville Church of Christ, followed by burial with military honors in Beechwood Cemetery.
Cornersville Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
