James Calvin Smith, 50, of Belfast, passed away on Thursday, Sept. 26, 2013, at his residence. A native of Athens, Ala., Mr. Smith was the son of the late Mearl Wayne Smith, who was from Alabama, and Elbalene Burgett Thompson of Belfast. Along with his mother, he is also survived by two brothers, Paul Smith and David Smith of the Caney Springs Community, and two sisters, Jeannie (Jeff) Reese and Jamie (William) McDaniel, both of Lewisburg. ...

A native of Athens, Ala., Mr. Smith was the son of the late Mearl Wayne Smith, who was from Alabama, and Elbalene Burgett Thompson of Belfast.
Along with his mother, he is also survived by two brothers, Paul Smith and David Smith of the Caney Springs Community, and two sisters, Jeannie (Jeff) Reese and Jamie (William) McDaniel, both of Lewisburg. Three nephews, one niece, four great-nieces, and one great-nephew also survive.
A memorial service was held Monday, Sept. 30, at Lifesong Family Church.
A private inurnment service was held Tuesday at Allen Cemetery in the Caney Springs Community.
