The Marshall County Tigerettes (25-4) captured their second straight District 10-AA tournament championship Monday night, Feb.19, defeating the Hickman County Lady Bulldogs, 48-28, in Lewisburg.
Although Hickman County (10-19) came into Monday's title showdown riding a wave of momentum from their upset victory over top-seeded Lewis County, the Lady Bulldogs were simply overmatched against the Tigerettes. After roaring out to a 32-13 halftime lead, MCHS opened up a 24-point cushion late in the third quarter before cruising to their seventh-consecutive win.
While Marshall County head coach David Steely was proud of his team's accomplishment, he indicated that his players are focused on bigger and better things after finishing second in the state last season.
