Mrs. Helen Sweeney Brown, 92, of Chapel Hill, TN, died Thursday afternoon, Sept. 1, 2022, in Lewisburg, TN. Mrs. Brown was born in Marshall County and was a daughter of the late Frank Morris Sweeney, Sr. and Fannie Mae McAdams Sweeney. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Buford Coleman Brown, who died in 1983 and brothers, Will Akin “Bill” Sweeney and Frank “Buddy” Sweeney, Jr.

Mrs. Brown was a graduate of the Class of 1948 at Forrest High School in Chapel Hill and a member of the former Promise United Methodist Church in the Holts Corner community.

Mrs. Helen was a homemaker and well known as a baker, especially for making the best yeast rolls, cinnamon rolls, and cornbread. She was an avid Atlanta Braves fan and was a ferocious card player. Helen loved watching many different game shows on television and playing bingo with her friends at NHC in Lewisburg. Most of all, she loved being with her family.

Mrs. Brown is survived by her children, Ronnie C. (Brenda) Brown, Caney Spring comm., Dale Brown, Chapel Hill, TN, Lisa (Ted) Klaren, Louisville, KY, Dena (Ronnie) Horton, Snellville, GA, Donna (Bobby) Gravitt, Cumming, GA; grandchildren, Jay (Christy) Brown, Robert (Jessica) Brown, Kelly Klaren, Taylor (Heather) Horton, Laura Klaren, Rachel Horton, Josh Gravitt, John Paul Gravitt; great-grandchildren, Simon Mann, Emily Brown, Braydon Siler, Evelynn Horton, Pearl Brown, Preston Gravitt, Daisy Gravitt, Charlotte Gravitt, Claire Gravitt; sister-in-law, Ruth Sweeney, Chapel Hill, TN.

Family members received friends Saturday, Sept. 3, 2022, from noon until 3 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home. Graveside services followed at 3 p.m. on Saturday, at Swanson Cemetery in Chapel Hill with Rev. Tim Holton officiating. Burial immediately followed.

Ted Klaren, Ronnie Horton, Bobby Gravitt, Jay Brown, Robert Brown and Taylor Horton served as pallbearers.
