Gus Harwell, 71, of Lewisburg, died Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2015, following an extended illness.
A native of Marshall County, Mr. Harwell was the son of the late Gus Fluneoy Harwell Sr. and Annie Lee Laster Harwell. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Vietnam War, and was formerly a Quality Control Inspector for I.C.P. in Lewisburg. Mr. Harwell was a member of Mt. Lebanon Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Virginia Sue Harwell of Lewisburg; a son, Tim (Kathy) Harwell of Shelbyville; a sister, Elise Murphy of Lewisburg; three brothers, William Cawthon, Sandlin Cawthon, and Clayton Cawthon, all of Phoenix, Ariz.; and three grandchildren, Alix Harwell Thompson, Arin Harwell, and Andi Harwell.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 23, at Lawrence Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 24, from the chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Hopper Cemetery in Marshall County.
