WATERTOWN — Forrest travelled to Watertown Monday and came away with a split as the Lady Rockets (9-13, 3-2) won easily 52-25 while the Rockets (9-13, 2-3) fell 66-52.
The Lady Rockets had a fight on their hands through the first quarter, having posted just a 12-10 lead, but began to pull away in the second frame.
Forrest increased its lead to 25-18 by halftime, but it was a stellar defensive effort in the second half that allowed the Lady Rockets to build a 27-point advantage by the time the buzzer sounded.
While only able to out-score the Lady Purple Tigers 8-4 in the third period, it was a 19-3 run in the final eight minutes that allowed Forrest to pull away for good.
Addison Bunty led all scorers with 15 points, while Megan Mealer and Cadence Chapman both hit double figures and scored 12 and 10 points, respectively.
Watertown’s Madison King led the home team with eight points.

The Forrest Rockets put forth a competitive effort in Monday’s non-district tilt against Watertown, but just couldn’t get over the hump in a 66-52 defeat.
The Rockets played the Purple Tigers within a single possession through the first quarter and evened the score at 27 apiece by halftime.
It wasn’t until Watertown went on a 17-11 run in the third quarter and closed the game with a 22-point fourth-quarter effort that shut the door on any comeback attempt by the Rockets.
Hunter Bennett was the lone Rocket to reach double figures, but what an effort he pitched in.
He dropped 24 points to lead the charge for Forrest, while Watertown’s Trent Spradlin posted a game-high 27 points.
