Mrs. Evelyn Grace Sewell Black, 92, of Athens, TN, died Friday, Aug. 16, 2019. Born in Niota, TN, Mrs. Black was a daughter of the late Gilford G. Sewell and Lida Enola Gunther Sewell. She was retired from General Motors. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence E. Black; a son, Clarence Edward Black; six sisters and two brothers.
Survived by a daughter, Shirley (Ron Neeley) McBride of Shelbyville, TN; a son, Alvin “Earl” (Debbie) Black of Lewisburg, TN; two sisters, Jan Woodward of AL and Dortha Watt of MI; five grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
Visitation will be Tuesday, Aug. 20, 2019, from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Lawrence Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2019, from the chapel of Lawrence Funeral Home in Chapel Hill, TN. Interment will be at 1 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 22, 2019, at McMinn Memory Gardens in Athens, TN.
