LEWISBURG — A four-run first inning by Lincoln County was more than Marshall County could overcome on Tuesday night in an 8-4 loss to the Lady Falcons.
Lincoln County wasted no time in getting right to work at the plate in the top of the first inning, leading off with four-straight hits, including a double and a triple, to take a 4-0 lead.
The Tigerettes got one back when Courtney Lynch scored on a RBI single by Demiyah Blackman.
The Lady Falcons padded their lead with two more runs in the third and runs in the fourth and fifth innings before Marshall County pushed another run across the plate.
Trailing 8-1, Lynch scored her second run of the night on an error and Haylee Hobby mashed a two-run homer to right, but that was all the run support Marshall County was able to get on Tuesday.
The Tigerettes were plagued by six errors in the loss, despite matching Lincoln County’s nine hits.
Lynch went 3-for-4 with a double, while Brittany Lynch went 2-for-3 with a double as well.
Hobbys homer was the biggest hit of the night as she went 1-for-4.
Hobby also got the start in the pitcher’s circle and went the distance for the Tigerettes, scattering eight runs on nine hits, but only five of which were earned, while striking out a pair. Marshall County is back at home on Thursday night, hosting Tullahoma at 5:30 p.m.
