Edwina Wolaver passed away on Dec. 9, 2013, in Birmingham, Ala., at the age of 84. Born on May 18, 1929, Edwina was a longtime resident of Marshall County and the surrounding area, and a member of the Hickory Heights Church of Christ in Lewisburg. Edwina Wolaver passed away on Dec. 9, 2013, in Birmingham, Ala., at the age of 84.

Born on May 18, 1929, Edwina was a longtime resident of Marshall County and the surrounding area, and a member of the Hickory Heights Church of Christ in Lewisburg. She graduated from Marshall County High School in 1947, and Columbia Business College in Columbia in 1948. She worked as a bookkeeper/accountant for many years in Lewisburg, Nashville and Huntsville. She married Robert C. Dew Sr. of Latta, S.C. in 1948. After retiring from the Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Ala., in 1989, Edwina pursued her interest in genealogy and played in a women's recreational golf league.

Edwina was preceded in death by her parents, Robbie Lee and Sarah Pearl (Pigg) Wolaver, both lifelong residents of Marshall County, as well as grandson Jason Newman of Birmingham, Ala.

She is survived by a son, Robert C. (Pamela) Dew Jr., of Covington, Ga.; daughter, Jacky (Jim) Newman of Alabaster, Ala.; brother, Clarence (Loyce) Wolaver of Sparta; three grandchildren, Jennifer (Michael) Dineen of Conyers, Ga., Jessica (Eric) Marshall of Alabaster, Ala., and Christopher Dew of Atlanta, Ga.; six great-grandchildren, Mattie and Lilly Dineen, Gabriel and Kyleigh Marshall, and Alex and Jake Newman; nephews, Tony (Chris) Wolaver of Lakeland, Fla. and Jeff (Jamie) Wolaver of McMinnville; and numerous cousins in the Shelbyville, Lewisburg and Cornersville area.

Funeral services for Edwina Wolaver will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 12, from the Chapel of Bills-McGaugh Funeral Home, with Tom Sumners officiating. Burial will follow in Short Cemetery in the Spring Place Community.

Visitation with the family will be Thursday from 10 a.m. until 12:45 p.m.
