On Thursday afternoon, Cascade showed why they are favored to defend their District 11-A-AA and Region 6-A-AA championships when they defeated the Marshall County Tigers and Webb Feet in a three-team match at River Bend Country Club in Shelbyville.
Taking the four best rounds from each team, Cascade posted a team score of 166 over nine holes. After shooting in the low to mid 160s for much of the season, Marshall County struggled putting on River Bend's notoriously fast greens and tallied a 178. Webb also notched a 178 to finish in a tie for second with the Tigers in the match.

'Wasn't our day'
"I was disappointed with how we played because I thought the course set up well for us. Obviously it wasn't our day," said MCHS coach Robby Giles. "We had some guys three-putt that normally don't do that. These were by far the fastest greens that we've played on all year."
Tanner Burks turned in the best round of the day and shot a 37 to lead the Champions to the victory. Tyler Huff followed Burks with a 40, while Chad Gordon and Bryce Clifton carded a 44 and a 45 respectively.
Tiger scores
Junior Brooks Leftwich was the low man for the Tigers (7-4-2) and paced Marshall County with a 40. Austin Blade turned in a 44 for MCHS as well, while Carson Hill and Zach Smith both tallied a 47.
Ben Morris posted the second lowest score of the match and led Webb with a 39. Zach Norris and John Wang also notched a 43 and a 44 respectively for the Feet, while Phillip James posted a 53.
After traveling to Warren County on Tuesday to compete in the Keith Maxwell Invitational at McMinnville County Club, the Tigers return to action next Monday when they take on Forrest and Giles County in an 18-hole match at Henry Horton State Park.
