Carl Wayne “Buddy” King, 75, of the Ostella Community, passed away Monday, March 27, 2023, at his home. Buddy served his country in the US Army and was the recipient of two purple hearts while serving in Vietnam. He was a life member of the Disabled American Veterans and was on the Board of Directors for Duncanville Cemetery. He was retired after 30 years with the Tennesse Department of Transportation. He was a loving husband, Daddy, Gramby, Granddaddy, brother, and friend. Buddy liked to stay on the go. He enjoyed golf, fishing, and spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Elvonda Gipson King; one son, Richard King (Gena); one daughter, Janet King Harris (David); three grandchildren, Katie King, Olivia Harris, and Ryan McDaniel; one great-grandchild, Johnse McDaniel. Buddy is also survived by one brother, James King (Betty); one sister, Linda Burrow (George) and several nieces and nephews.

Buddy was preceded in death by his parents. Willie Bob and Alva Mooningham King; a brother, Thomas King; and two sisters, Olene Dockery and Hattie Powell.

Visitation with Buddy’s family will be Thursday, March 30, 2023, from 4 to 7 p.m. in the chapel of Bills-McGaugh & Hamilton Funeral Home. Visitation will resume at noon, Friday, March 31, 2023, and will continue until the funeral hour of 2 p.m. The burial will follow at Short Cemetery with military honors.
