The Cornersville Bulldogs wanted to play spoiler to any high hopes that seventh-ranked Moore County had of catching sixth-ranked Culleoka and did for one half of basketball before the Raiders turned it around in the second half to secure a 73-56 homecoming victory in Lynchburg Tuesday night.
Cornersville was solidly entrenched in third place in District 11A before and after the contest and will host a first round game next week to open tournament play.
Moore County scored first, but the Dawgs scored six straight on a Steven Nelms three-pointer from beyond the arc and on a conventional three-point play from Tyler Cole to go up 6-2.
Nelms would hit another three to give the Bulldogs a 9-4 margin. The Raiders would score to make it 9-6, but Nelms hit a pull-up from the wing to make it 11-6 and a Cole free throw made it 12-6.
