Bulldogs can't solve Moore County pitcher

CORNERSVILLE — Not much went Cornersville’s way in Monday afternoon’s District 9-A clash with Moore County.
The Raiders leaned on the talents of their hard-throwing righty, Jacob Baker who went the distance and kept the Bulldogs hit-less in Moore County’s 10-0 win.
Aaron Gann got the start for the Bulldogs and worked his off-speed pitches through the first inning, tying up the Raiders bats in the process.
If not for an error in the infield, Gann would have recorded a perfect 1-2-3 first inning, with a pair of strikeouts.
But Moore County took advantage of another error in the second inning and plated its first run of the night.
The Raiders went on to plate two more in the second inning, but it was a leadoff, inside-the-park home run in the fourth that put the game out of reach.
Baker helped his own effort with a well-hit ball to the left field fence, allowing him to scamper around the bases and score the inside-the-park round tripper.
Keller Morey tacked on a 2 RBI double in the inning as well.
Parker followed by sitting the Bulldogs down in order during the bottom of the fourth inning and followed with his second home run of the game, a two-run shot to center field, in the top of the fifth inning.
Moore County plated two more runs to reach the 10-run rule limit.
Cornersville just couldn’t find an answer for Baker, who didn’t allow a hit and struck out 10.
Cornersville batters did manage four walks against Baker, but just couldn’t get the ball in play.
The Bulldogs travel to Lynchburg for Game 2 this afternoon.
