Betty Joan Thompson, age 68 of Lewisburg, died Sunday, May 14, 2017, in Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville. Joan was a native of Marshall County, TN growing up in the Delina Community. She was the daughter of Rufus Clyde and Clara Prosser Malone. She was a member of the graduating class of 1966 at Cornersville High School. Betty Joan Thompson, age 68 of Lewisburg, died Sunday, May 14, 2017, in Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville.
Joan was a native of Marshall County, TN growing up in the Delina Community. She was the daughter of Rufus Clyde and Clara Prosser Malone. She was a member of the graduating class of 1966 at Cornersville High School. Joan was the deputy county clerk in the Marshall County Clerk’s office and was a member of Parkview Baptist Church where she served as the church treasurer.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Clayton Malone; three sisters, Margie Wakefield, Joyce Vore, and Glenda Peek. She is survived by her husband, Robert “Bobby” Thompson of Lewisburg; son, Andy Thompson of Dallas, PA; daughter, Rhonda (Brian) Rose of Bluffton, SC; three sisters, Daisy (Ron) Hamlin of Brentwood, Ethelene Ervin of Shelbyville, Geneva Guilliam of St. Charles, MO; and four grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, May 17, 2017, at 2 p.m. from the chapel of London Funeral Home with burial to follow in Lone Oak Cemetery.
The family will be at London Funeral Home Tuesday from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Wednesday until the funeral hour for visitation.
