Barbara Ann Shinn, 65, passed away Sunday, Aug. 4, 2019, surrounded by her loving family. Barbara was born Oct. 17, 1953, in Nashville, TN to the late Robert Sweeney, Sr. and the late Betty Jean Rollins-Sweeney. Barbara was also preceded in death by her older brother Robert Sweeney, Jr. and her baby brother Jerald Wayne Sweeney. Barbara is survived by her other baby brother, James Sweeney; husband, Christopher J. Shinn; daughters, Pamela Rehman and Cynthia George; son, Christopher C. Shinn; four granddaughters, Anna Watson, Mira Banerji, Abigale Shinn, and Cayleigh Shinn; great-grandson Eliezer Watson; daughter-in-law, Catherine Shinn; and son-in-law, Frank Watson.
Barbara grew up in Donelson, TN and graduated from McGavock High School in 1971. Throughout her life she resided in various parts of Nashville. She moved to Gallatin, TN in 1989, when she started working for Wal-Mart. She and her husband eventually moved to Lewisburg, TN where they have resided for the last decade. Barbara retired from Wal-Mart after 25 years of service. Barbara possessed the strength of the bear and the stubbornness of the donkey. She was funny and brave and will be missed.
Visitation will be on Thursday, Aug. 8, 2019, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and on Friday, Aug. 9, 2019, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Spring Hill Funeral Home.
The Celebration of Life Ceremony will also be held at the funeral home on Friday, Aug. 9, 2019, at 1 p.m. followed by the graveside service at 2:15 p.m., when Barbara will be laid to rest in the Veteran’s Garden at Spring Hill Cemetery.
Spring Hill Funeral Home has been entrusted with the final care of Mrs. Shinn.
