A-Plus Collision Center (3-5, 2-5) snapped a four-game losing streak on Tuesday night when they thumped Marshall Medical Center 13-2 in four innings at Jonathan D. Hollingsworth Memorial Park.

Having narrowly lost to MMC 6-5 in their previous encounter on May 28, A-Plus Collision Center quickly asserted control of Tuesday's contest and built a 5-0 lead through the first two innings of play.

Marshall Medical Center (3-5, 2-5) tallied two runs in the top of the third inning to whittle the deficit to 5-2, but APCC put the game away by crossing home plate eight times over the next two frames to bring the mercy rule into effect.

Complete game

A-Plus Collision Center starting pitcher Brayden Gentry went the distance on the mound to pick up the victory and limited Marshall Medical Center to five hits and a walk in four innings of work while registering six strikeouts.

APCC finished with seven hits in the contest against four MMC pitchers, but also took advantage of nine walks, three hit batsmen, and three Marshall Medical Center errors. Brett McGehee tallied a double, a RBI, and two runs scored to account for A-Plus Collision Center's lone extra base hit of the contest, while Logan Bailey (2 RBI), Tristan Underwood (2 RBI), Jarvis Lyttle (2 RBI), Gentry (1 RBI), Lucas Welch (1 RBI), and Ethan Evans all singled.

MMC starting pitcher Jacob Harris suffered the loss after giving up four unearned runs in one-third of an inning on three walks. Jackson Coward was the most effective of Marshall Medical Center's three relief pitchers and yielded one run over one and two-third innings on one hit and two walks.

Nate Huitt went 2-for-2 with a stolen base and a run scored to pace MMC at the plate, while Ethan Poteete (1 RBI), Nathan Derryberry (1 RBI), and Trent Richardson notched one hit apiece.

Early hopes

Marshall Medical Center had a chance to take the lead in the top of the first inning when they loaded the bases with one out thanks to a pair of singles from Huitt and Richardson and a hit batsman, but Gentry struck out the next two MMC batters to escape the jam.

That missed opportunity came back to haunt Marshall Medical Center in the bottom half of the inning, as APCC pushed across four runs in the frame to seize a 4-0 advantage. After loading the bases with no outs on a walk by Ethan Evans and two MMC errors, Bryce Wunderlin, Underwood, and Welch all drew RBI walks to make it 3-0, before Lyttle was hit by a pitch to bring home Wunderlin.

A-Plus Collision Center then tallied another run in the bottom of the second on the strength of a hit batsman, a Bailey walk, and a RBI single by Underwood to stretch their lead to 5-0.

APCC in charge

Marshall Medical Center plated two runs in the top of the third with the help of a leadoff single by Huitt, a Poteete RBI double, and a RBI single by Derryberry to narrow the gap to 5-2, but APCC tacked on a run in the bottom half of the frame behind a Evans single, and a RBI double by McGehee to open up a 6-2 advantage.

A-Plus Collision Center then delivered the knockout blow in the bottom of the fourth and crossed home plate seven times in the frame with the aid of a leadoff walk by Underwood, a Lyttle RBI single, a walk by Hunter Cummings, a Gentry RBI single, a hit batsman, a bases loaded walk by Wunderlin, a two-run single by Bailey, and a MMC throwing error to wrap up their 13-2 triumph.
