Byard sees no better time than Saturday when the Titans (9-7) visit the Kansas City Chiefs (10-6) in an AFC wild-card game in his postseason debut...

PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Nick Foles has too much respect for Carson Wentz to call himself the starting quarterback of the Philadelphia Eagles. His temporary gig could turn the backup into a Philly legend. If Foles leads the Eagles (12-2) to the franchise's first Super Bowl title, he'll become a folk hero who'll go back to the sideline once Wentz returns from a torn ACL next season...

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — Even as the PGA Tour aims to end its FedEx Cup around Labor Day, that doesn't mean the end of golf for the year. Golf is the one sport where the length of the offseason is determined by the players, who can take off as much time as they want. Dustin Johnson played two times over three months at the end of last year and plans to do the same. Phil Mickelson once took four months off after the FedEx Cup ended...

Chapel Hill’s Mike Minor continued his stellar comeback season with the Kansas City Royals as he moved to 5-1 on the season when Salvador Perez hit a two-run homer in the 10th inning to cap off 9-6 win at Seattle on Wednesday night.
Minor pitched the ninth inning to get the victory before Kelvin Herrera threw the 10th for his 19th save.
The Forrest graduate faced three batters in the ninth inning, inducing two fly ball outs and picking up his 45th strikeout of the season. Minor has appeared in 34 games for the Royals out of the bullpen this season and has a stingy 1.91 earned run average.
