CROSSVILLE, Tenn. - A new state record yellow perch is being verified by the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA). The fish measured 15 and a half inches in length and weighed 2 pounds, 3 ounces. Mr. Trent McCoy caught the fish in Lake Dartmore just north of Crossville on Monday, January 16. Normandy TN: The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency has completed a new fishing pier on Normandy Lake. It is the first of its kind on the lake and will offer an excellent bank fishing opportunity. NASHVILLE --- Close to 165,000 deer were harvested in Tennessee during the recently completed 2014-15 seasons according to data gathered by the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency.
The statewide gun season concluded Jan. 4 and the youth hunt followed on Jan. 10-11. The harvest numbers range from the start of archery season on Sept. 27, 2014 through the final youth hunt.

Valentine continually encourages women to try hunting and shooting sports, writes the Hen Tracks column in the NWTF's Turkey Country magazine and is an NWTF spokesperson.

TWRA Trout Truck heading to Marshall and Franklin County waters for first time

The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency will send a hatchery truck to two bodies of water in southern Middle Tennessee never stocked before with winter trout.
According to TWRA Fish Biologist Jim Pipas, the first truck from Flintville Hatchery will deliver 350 rainbow trout to Big Rock Creek in Marshall County on Tuesday January, 22 at approximately 9 a.m.

On July 22, Alexis King of Cornersville won the first place blue ribbon in the Youth English Equitation 17 years and under Canter class at the Tennessee Walking Horse Breeders' and Exhibitors' Association (TWBEA) World Versatility Show in Murfreesboro. Under the direction of certified riding instructor Barbara Civils of Belfast, King is preparing for the Tennessee Walking Horse National Celebration in Shelbyville in August. King is the daughter of Steven and Kimberly King of Cornersville and is the granddaughter of Bobby and Mae Bills of Cornersville and Jerry and Donna King of Lewisburg. King will be a sophomore at Cornersville High School this year.

Seven-year-old Hunter Bennett earned his first name on the morning of Friday October 14 when the youngster harvested his first deer with a crossbow from 35 yards out in Chapel Hill. The eight point buck was field-dressed at 158 lbs. Hunter was excited to know that his first deer was bigger than anything his dad (Philip Bennett) has ever killed, or many other hunters have ever killed. What a trophy for the young hunter's first kill!
