The Marshall County Tigerettes (5-7-2) have experienced its share of inconsistency during the 2016 soccer season, not having won more than two straight matches, but also not losing two games in a row.
Tuesday night at Lewisburg offered more of the same for the Tigerettes by following a 3-1 win over Columbia's Middle Tennessee Crusaders last week with a hard fought 2-0 loss to Middle Tennessee Christian School (8-5-3).

After opening the season at 1-1, the FMS Rockets (5-1) have now won four in row, including a big 27-0 shutout win over Eagleville on Homecoming Thursday night at Chapel Hill.

The Lewisburg Middle School Tigers have struggled this season to put together a complete ball game and the result has been a winless 2016 campaign, but LMS had a shot to remove the goose egg with one win E.A. Cox traveling to Preston Hopkins Field Thursday night for Homecoming.
The two teams battled back and forth and the Tigers needed overtime plus a crucial stop on a two-point conversion to finally remove the proverbial monkey off its back and claim a 24-22 win over the Columbia squad.
"I told the boys all year that we were a better team than what our record showed," LMS coach Elliot Cook said. "We can't change the past, just focus on this week and let's be 1-0 this week."

Marshall County coach Thomas Osteen has made a point of putting together a grueling non-region schedule during his three-year tenure at Lewisburg and Friday was no exception as the Tigers traveled into the heart of downtown Nashville to take on perhaps the greatest turnaround story of the 2016 season in the undefeated Stratford Spartans (6-0).
The Spartans, who lost 38-20 to Marshall County in 2015, were able to put together a plan that held the Tigers scoreless in the second half for the first time this season on the way to a stunning 28-21 victory in front of almost every media entity in the mid-state at the East Nashville school.

After back-to-back losses to open the season, the Cornersville Bulldogs have turned into legitimate playoff contenders when they won their third region game in row Friday night, outlasting Mt. Pleasant 35-20 at Frog Bottom.
"I was very proud for our football team to get the win against Mt. Pleasant. If I'm not mistaking, it has been 16 years since Cornersville defeated Mt. Pleasant in football," Cornersville coach Gerard Randolph said. "I thought our guys set the tone early and allowed us to build a nice lead. It was fun watching the guys execute and call on each other to make plays."

There was no Homecoming distractions on the Murrey E. Holton Memorial Field Friday night as the Forrest Rockets came out strong and piled it on the Cascade Champions 43-7.
"It always feels good to get a Homecoming win," Forrest coach Brent Johns said. "Two years in a row with an easy win like this, going into the second half knowing you have got it won is a good feeling."
The fifth-ranked Rockets moved to 6-0 on the season with their third win in a row and six out of the last seven over the Wartrace squad.

The Forrest Lady Rockets traveled to Murfreesboro on Tuesday for a District 9A/AA game with the Lady Cougars and after a full 80 minutes of action, the game ended in a 0-0 tie.
"Obviously we would have loved to come away with a victory, especially in a district game, but we will take this tie and move forward," Forrest coach Nicole Pickle said. "I think the girls performed very well. We told them before the game they needed to come out on the offensive attack first and we did that."
