The depth of strength in District 9A came to fruition Wednesday in a weather related makeup game at Huntland when the Lady Hornets easily handled Forrest 68-51.
"I told them in the locker room that there are no excuses, we can name some moments in the game, but they just outplayed us," Forrest coach Jeremy Jean said.
The Lady Rockets, coming off a big win over third-ranked Moore County on Tuesday, were a step slow and off their game and it cost them a loss that sends the district standings into tiebreakers for first place.

The Tigers jumped back into the District 12AA race versus Spring Hill and looked for some consistency on Tuesday after coming off an impressive third place finish in the Battle of Franklin Christmas Tournament Marshall County with a win over 3A Lebanon 12 days prior.
The long break did not seem to bother the Tigers, who finished off the Raiders before the halftime buzzer sounded, giving Marshall County its first district win of the season at 77-34 before a brutal stretch of the schedule commences.

In the first game of twin bill Thursday night at the Shelton Gymnasium in Lewisburg, the LMS Tigerettes escaped with a wild 27-26 win over the EA Cox Lady Cougars.
In the first half, both teams did not score many points as they shook off some holiday rust.
Israel Hurt, who led all scorers in the contest with 13 points, scored the first three points of the game on a free throw and a bucket in the low post, but that would be all the scoring in the first quarter for the Tigerettes.

Having lost the past four games by an average of 39.2 points per game, Cornersville felt it had a winnable game on Tuesday night against a Culleoka (5-9, 3-2) team the Bulldogs (2-9, 2-3) figure to be battling for fourth place in the district as the tournament rolls around.
But taking the court missing four players that play big time minutes (two injured, one quit, one on vacation) Cornersville knew they would have to play a near perfect game to notch a win against the Warriors and the Bulldogs did for one half before going cold in second half and letting one slip away 61-52.

The Cornersville (5-4) Lady Bulldogs team entered the Richland Christmas Tournament winning four out of five games but the loss, a 14-point setback against district foe Mount Pleasant weighed heavily on the teams mind heading into the opening game against Spring Hill (0-9).
"They don't have any wins, but you have to look at who they have played and they've played some quality competition," CHS coach Peyton Newton said. "So we knew we had to come in and we talked about it after Mount Pleasant, we had to be on our game, do our stuff."

There is no doubt about the fact that the Tigerettes (4-6, 0-2) have come a long way in a short period of time under new coach David Steely.
But just how far along were they was the question entering Friday night's game against perennial power Christ Presbyterian Academy (7-1, 2-0) at Dottie Kelso Memorial Gymnasium at Lewisburg.
That question was answered emphatically as the Tigerettes held a lead almost the entire second half before losing on a CPA 3-pointer with under a minute left in the game for a 34-31 loss.
