The Marshall County Tigerettes, coming off back-to-back District 12AA losses, entertained Class 3A Lawrence County Monday at Dottie Kelso Memorial Gymnasium in Lewisburg and the Lady Wildcats (22-3, 8-1) handed Lewisburg its worst defeat of the season, 60-23. "They (Lawrence County) are good, they are 22-3 now and they are that for a reason," Marshall County coach David Steely said. "Losing that bad was disappointing, but we didn't come to play tonight, we didn't come with any intensity and we didn't give great effort on the floor." more
Before the game, both coaches decided that with some tough district games looming it was in their best interests for both ball clubs to rest many starters in a non-conference matchup between Marshall County and Lawrenceburg at Lewisburg Monday night. Lawrence County came away with 64-56 win as Caleb Fields, Jay Howard, Tre Crutcher and D'Andre Brown all sat on the pine. more
The Cornersville Bulldogs picked up a huge district win on Friday night over Culleoka, a team it had lost to early in the season and Monday night the Bulldogs had another chance to exact revenge for an earlier loss when Zion Christian came to town. The Bulldogs (7-12) lost to the Eagles (10-9) by 18-points despite leading the majority of the first half during an early season matchup in Columbia, but Cornersville has improved mightily in the meantime and handled Zion for the better part of the contest on the way to a 65-53 win. more
The Cornersville Lady Bulldogs suffered three straight double figure losses against three district teams that with wins would have put Cornersville in prime position to take the number-one seed into the District 11A Tournament. The Lady Bulldogs bounced back since those losses with two straight district wins over Mt. Pleasant and Culleoka and welcomed winless Zion Christian to town Monday night. Despite having zero wins on the season the Lady Eagles surprised the Lady Bulldogs early, taking a brief lead two minutes into the second quarter before Cornersville finally put its foot on the gas and ran away with a 69-25 win. more
One of the only accomplishments this senior Marshall County High School basketball class has not managed in its career is the gratification of beating Christ Presbyterian Academy (CPA) in the past four years. After the emotional high of blowing out Giles County on a special night last Tuesday, the Tigers came out flat at CPA on Friday night, going into halftime down 20 points before a perfect second half set Marshall County up with a chance to beat the Lions. more
Marshall County has proven time and time again during the season that they can play with the best Class AA has to offer, but going into Thursday night's game against #10 ranked CPA the Tigerettes had yet to win that signature game against high level competition. The Tigerettes seemed unfazed by the hostile environment at CPA, leading at the end of the first three quarters, but just like the first matchup versus the Lady Lions, Marshall County gave up a fourth quarter lead before falling 55-51. "They're a good matchup for us," MCHS coach David Steely said. "We didn't do a good job on the big girl (Savannah LeGate) tonight, she had 26 points but we're right there with them. They're a really good team, they've won 16 games now and are ranked in the state." more

The Cornersville Lady Bulldogs backed up a huge 47-34 win versus Mt. Pleasant on Tuesday in a big way Friday night at Culleoka, running away from the Lady Warriors via a 53-34 victory. We just came out and pushed the ball hard, because we knew how big of a win this could be," senior Morgan Terry said. "We lost three tough games last week and we knew after we beat Mt. Pleasant we had to come over here and keep our momentum up." more
After suffering three consecutive District 11A losses by 20 points or more, the Cornersville Bulldogs bounced back with a thrilling 41-38 win at Culleoka Friday night. "It was a little more exciting than I wanted it to be," Cornersville coach Matt Hagan said. "It was not a very pretty game, but I'm just glad we came away with the victory for the kids." Senior Michael Allen led all scorers with 17 points in the game and he was instrumental in sealing the win for Cornersville, scoring on a monster rebound and put-back with one minute to play in the game and then hitting a crucial free throw 30 seconds later. more

Riding its first three-game winning streak in over two seasons the Cornersville Bulldogs faced a daunting task against one-loss Richland. To make matters worse the Bulldogs traveled to Lynnville without its head coach, Matt Hagan, who is sitting out two games after being ejected during the Santa Fe contest. But with assistant coach Louis Scheuchenzuber on the bench the Bulldogs handled the Raiders' press with ease during the first two quarters before Richland's experience and depth allowed the Giles County squad to pull away for the 67-39 win. more
Following a tough 35-point loss to Richland the previous night, the Cornersville Bulldogs returned home to southern Marshall County for another monumental task against Columbia Academy (15-2, 9-1), who is tied with Richland for first place in the district with one loss. And despite the wide variance in records for the two Bulldog clubs, Cornersville (5-11, 5-5) had Columbia Academy on the ropes, down just 33-30 with 5:21 remaining in the third quarter before CA pulled away for the 67-39 win. more
The Cornersville Lady Bulldogs finished off a brutal three-game week with a visit from Columbia Academy on Homecoming night with the a chance to regain a foothold on a top position in the District 11A standings. Unfortunately for the Lady Bulldogs, a third straight fourth quarter meltdown left a team that started the week tied for first place in the district standings, struggling to maintain a top-four spot with the loss to Columbia Academy, 55-45. more
Despite a tough loss on Tuesday to Santa Fe, the Cornersville Lady Bulldogs had a chance to redeem the setback and regain a share of first place in the district with a win at Richland in a makeup game on Thursday night. Cornersville took leads into the second quarter, halftime and found itself down just two heading into the final quarter before suffering a second straight fourth quarter breakdown, losing 48-31 after scoring just five points in the final eight minutes. more
Page Middle School beat the FMS Rockets 66-41 in a recent meeting and in the first round of the 55th Annual World Tournament at Forrest, the same two teams met again. The heavily favored 2A Panthers ran into a determined Forrest squad that put together its best all-around performance of the season. This time Forrest would not let the Panthers get comfortable in their offense and bang the Rockets in the low post like in the first meeting. more
After Page Middle School recently beat FMS 46-31, the Lady Panthers came into the 55th Annual World Tournament at Chapel Hill as the favorites to win the four-team event. The Lady Rockets had other ideas and they backed it up with a game plan for success that turned into an exciting 34-32 win in Thursday night's opening round game that was well played the entire 24 minutes. more
After fighting tournament favorite Page in a close loss in Thursday's opening round, the FMS Rockets came out on fire in Saturday's consolation game of the 55th Annual World Tournament, dismantling Eagleville in a 46-12 coast-to-coast win. "I felt the team improved as the season progressed and I'm proud of our eighth graders work ethic and leadership," FMS coach Robby Reasonover said. more
ollowing a tough overtime loss can be difficult, especially the very next day, but the Marshall County Tigers overcame the setback at Wartrace on Thursday night with a big 75-37 coast-to-coast blowout win over Nolensville at Dottie Kelso Memorial Gymnasium on Friday. KJ Johnson continued his stellar sophomore season for the Tigers with a 27-point performance versus the Knights, including five out of the nine 3-pointers for Marshall County in the contest. more
After a big win at Cascade on Thursday, the Marshall County Tigerettes made it two wins in a row, beating Nolensville 55-42 Friday night at Dottie Kelso Memorial Gymnasium in Lewisburg to move above the .500 mark for the first time since 2010. These were important wins for us," sophomore Demariae Ingram said. "At the end of the year, some people are giving up because the season is almost over, but our coach (David Steely) always tells us to keep going and come out on top." more
