Marshall County High School continued the stream of football players signing with major university programs when Tigers’ offensive line anchor Dave Roberts signed a Letter of Intent with Austin Peay University on early signing day Wednesday. “This feels great, since I’ve been little I’ve dreamed of this day,” Roberts said. “I hear all the people say, do the job that you love, so now I get a chance to do the job I love.” more
For the past three seasons the Rockets have suffered more than their share of disappointing, close last second losses. This season those losses include a 12-point loss to 3A Mt. Juliet, a 10-point loss to 3A Lincoln County, and a one-point loss to McEwen and a four-point loss to Perry County. more
After starting the season off 2-2, the Forrest Lady Rockets have been on a roll, winning five of six games heading into the matchup of the season with Lewis County (5-5). If the first matchup (57-54 Forrest) was any indication of how the second game would play out, Forrest fans should have been in from a start to finish throw down in Chapel Hill. more

The Cornersville Middle School Lady Bulldogs looked a lot like the high school squad against Elkton, holding the visitors to just 11 total points against 47 by the home team, just a few days after the high school team held Hampshire to eight points. The eight points allowed by the high school team was the lowest in over a decade. more

The FMS Rockets were on their way to a Duck River Valley Conference Tournament title on Saturday at Community when it all fell apart, losing to Cascade 39-27. Forrest led 21-16 entering the fourth quarter when Cascade came storming back, scoring 21 points in the final six minutes to win going away. more
In a rare meeting between Division I and Division II schools, the Marshall County Tigers hosted the Montgomery Bell Academy Big Red Friday night in Lewisburg. The Big Red had won three-out-of-four meetings between the two schools since 2001 and the Nashville all boys academy made it four wins in a row over the Tigers with a nail-biting 62-60 win. more
The Marshall County Tigerettes wanted to make a big impression on the 2008 state champion team being honored Friday night at Dottie Kelso Memorial Gymnasium in Lewisburg. “We wanted to impress them because we knew they were the state champions and we wanted to show them we are following the tradition,” MCHS junior Demariae Ingram said. more

The Lewisburg Middle School Tigerettes game into Monday night’s game at Whitthorne Middle School without a win in 2017, but the last time the two squads squared up the loss was a close one. The Tigerettes (0-11) looked ready to finally add one in the win column by taking a 20-12 lead into the final quarter, but Whitthorne outscored LMS 20-7 in the final frame to take the win in heartbreaking fashion, 32-27. more
The Lewisburg Middle School boys squad hit a late-season winning streak to end the 2016-17 regular season before taking an 11-point loss in the state tournament at Middle Tennessee Christian, and started out this season with two more losses before things turned back around. Many of the players that helped spur the late season resurgence last season have become leaders on one of the hottest teams in the MidState as the Tigers won eight straight coming into Monday night’s game against Whitthorne. more
The Bulldogs came into Tuesday night's game against Hampshire (1-6) riding a five-game losing streak but a 29-point loss versus Zion Christian non-withstanding, Cornersville has been in every single loss including a two-point loss at Hampshire last week and a five-point loss at Mount Pleasant in which the Bulldogs held a double-digit lead late into the game. Cornersville coach Matt Hagan has been waiting for his team to mold into one unit and finally got his wish with a 60-41 statement win against the Hawks. more
On December 7, 2012 the Lady Bulldogs beat Columbia Academy 48-13, on January 13, 2009 they pummeled Culleoka 48-10, and on November 20, 2001 Cornersville blasted Zion Christian 81-9. But not since 2006 when Cornersville beat Culleoka 57-7 have the Lady Bulldogs held an opponent to as few points as in the 56-8 win over Hampshire on Tuesday night. more
On Friday night, Huntland caged up Leah Hollingsworth, holding her to just two free throws. Tuesday the Tigerette senior shooting guard broke out in a big way, scoring a game-high 30 points, including all seven of Marshall County’s 3-pointers in a 50-34 win over archrival Columbia Central at Dottie Kelso Memorial Gymnasium in Lewisburg. more
arshall County coach Lavon King coached at Moore County for a longtime and was part of many rivalry games in the Lynchburg area, but what he witnessed Tuesday night was a classic Lewisburg versus Columbia battle to the finish. “It was huge and I was really proud of the kids,” King said. “They worked hard all week as far as getting prepared for this game, they did a good job and I’m just happy I got these guys.” more
After a one year drought, the FMS Rockets are back in the Duck River Valley Conference Tournament (DRVC) title game thanks to a gutty performance Thursday night at Unionville in the tournament semifinals versus Fayetteville. The Rockets trailed at the end of every quarter except the one that mattered when they came back with an inspired fourth quarter to beat the Tigers 28-22. “That’s what they have been doing all year,” said Forrest alum Jacob Daughrity, who has been coaching the Rockets as head coach Randy Toombs does double duty with the high school. more
