It was muggy and buggy Friday night at Summertown as the Forrest Rockets squared off with the Eagles in a Region 5-2A matchup that went down to the wire with Chapel Hill coming out on top 7-0. “It was our first region win, so it’s always good to get that win,” Forrest coach Eli Stephenson said. more
The Cornersville Bulldogs and Forrest Rockets gridiron crews are like two ships sailing in different directions with the Frog Bottom vessel headed to calmer waters and sunny skies, while the Chapel Hill ship is stuck in rough waters and headed for the rocks unless a course correction is carried out. The third-ranked Class A Bulldogs are mauling their opponents with a 121-to-20 point scoring differential in three games, including back-to-back shutouts over Eagleville and Moore County. more
Turnovers and untimely penalties can turn a win into a loss very quickly and that’s what happened to the Forrest Rockets, who fell 14-13 to Eagleville in Chapel Hill’s home opener Friday night at Murrey E. Holton Field. “That was a really tough loss,” Forrest coach Eli Stephenson said. “Our main goal is to make the playoffs and we just didn’t meet our goal tonight. The kids came out and played four quarters.” more
The middle of the season has come and gone for the Lewisburg Middle School Tigers and third-year head coach Beau Hardison. After combining to win just three games in his first two-years at the helm, Hardison has the Tigers roaring towards the finish line following a third straight lopsided win, this time a 40-6 win at Bridgeforth. more
The Marshall County Tigers hosted Region 4-4A foe Tullahoma Friday night at Preston Hopkins Field in Lewisburg for the home opener and things didn’t go as planned as the Wildcats broke a three-game losing streak versus MCHS with a hard-fought 14-13 win that went down to the last play. “No doubt a loss that stings badly, especially one of such importance being a region game,” MCHS coach Thomas Osteen said. “For whatever reason we came out flat as opposed to the fire that we played with in our first two contests.” more
Anyone driving past Frog Bottom last Friday would see a sight that was reminiscent of last fall's historic run. The parking spaces were limited all the way back to the baseball field 30 minutes before kickoff, the now trademark fireworks after every Bulldog touchdown, and of course, the standing room only crowd packed three deep all around the football field fences. more

Lewisburg is a mid-size town and Marshall County High School is a mid-size school. But for the past four years under head coach Thomas Osteen and his hard-working staff, the Tigers have been sending an enormous amount of football players to the next level. Clocking in at just over the 900 mark in terms of enrollment, the Tigers are the smallest school enrollment-wise in Region 4-4A but have had 13 players sign with colleges in that period alone. more
The Forrest Rockets’ golf team swept a tri-match versus Hickman County and Columbia Academy Tuesday at Henry Horton with the Lady Rockets winning 91-93 to remain undefeated on the season at 9-0, while the boys took a 181-202 victory. “I’m really happy with both teams to be honest,” Forrest coach Andy Burkett said. “Our boys have made some big strides this season, a lot of the guys that are playing this is their first year playing golf, so I could not be more proud of them seeing them really start to take to the game, find a love for the game and just see them play well with all the practice they have been putting in.” Columbia Academy did not have a girls team, so it was Forrest versus Hickman County and the match was close the entire nine holes before Chapel Hill prevailed in the end. more
Thursday night, a road trip to Coffee County to face Tullahoma Middle School was supposed to be the as-of-yet toughest game of the season for Lewisburg Middle School. But the ballgame quickly turned into an early rout and another version of the Demari Braden show as the elusive eighth-grade running back ran for an unofficial school record of seven touchdowns as the Tigers coasted to a 65-28 win. more
Cornersville Middle School hosted the Flintville Bobcats in a throwback game Thursday night at Frog Bottom and it was all Bulldogs from start to finish in a 46-22 win. The contest was played with a running clock as the Bobby Hurt led officiating crew wanted to stave off any injuries to the Bobcats’ squad that brought just 15 players to Cornersville. more
After a 42-7 season opening blowout loss at third-ranked BGA, the Forrest Rockets bounced back in a big way via a 51-0 trouncing at Fayetteville Friday night. “The players came out focused and hungry,” Forrest coach Eli Stephenson said. “We had bad taste in our mouth from last week and we wanted to prove that we are a better team than that.” The Rockets scored 37 points in the first quarter and led 44-0 at halftime to improve to 4-0 all-time over the Tigers. more
In the postgame huddle, Gerard Randolph told the team that he thought they had just played the best game he had seen the Bulldogs turn in as Cornersville’s head coach and it was an almost perfectly executed performance as the number three-ranked Dawgs spun a dominating 41-0 shutout win over seventh-ranked 2A Eagleville in the home opener at Frog Bottom Friday night. more
