Forrest survives Friday loser's bracket game The Forrest Lady Rockets are not only the 2007 Class A State softball runner-ups, they are a team that wins and loses with class. The Lady Rockets are a team that was not even supposed to be a contender this year, yet they battled and improved the entire season, winning their fourteenth consecutive District Title, finishing as the Region 5-A runner-up, and giving the defending State Champion Trinity Christian Lady Lions everything they had before losing 3-0 in the Championship Final Friday night. In the era of private school dominance, Forrest has carried the public school banner proudly and has managed to maintain a lofty position of always playing with the heavyweights. Coach Becky Cheatham and the Lady Rockets have appeared at the Spring Fling four out of the last six years with two runners up finishes. . . . . more

Stoltz gets redemption with game winning homerun Everything was on the line, win or go home and the Lewisburg Tigers showed exactly what they are made of as they executed a comeback for the ages in defeating Marion County 14-11 in a loser's bracket game Wednesday morning at Smyrna High School in the TSSAA State Tournament. . . . . more
The Lewisburg Tigers made their first trip to the TSSAA State Tournament since 2003 on Tuesday and battled the consensus favorite University School of Jackson Bruins (38-5) tooth and nail before finally falling 4-2. Seth Lintz, making his third start in less than ten days pitched a complete game, giving all he had in allowing four runs on six hits, while walking four in his first loss of the 2007 season. The Bruins had one big inning that cost the Tigers a chance to move on in the winner's bracket portion of the tournament. With the loss, the Tigers drop to the loser's bracket and an early Wednesday morning match-up versus the Marion County Warriors (31-15), who defeated Marshall County 3-1 in a 2006 regular season match-up. . . . . . more

Radford University Press Release Chapel Hill native and 2003 Forrest High School alum, Jamar Jenkins has signed a National Letter of Intent to transfer to Radford University, according to men's basketball coach Brad Greenberg.
