Forrest senior Shelby Stinnett finished off an immaculate five-year record of never allowing an earned run to a district opponent in the regular season with a bombshell, hurling a perfect game in the circle on Senior Night at the Field of Dreams in Chapel Hill as the Lady Rockets shutout Community 6-0 Wednesday night.
Stinnett said after the game, "It feels good not giving up any earned runs in the district all five years, but what matters the most is the next four games in the district tournament and it only gets tougher as we go on."
Stinnett (17-1) struck out eight Viqueen batters in the contest, notching her 112th career win and win number 50 versus league foes.

The magical mystery tour continued Tuesday night in Chapel Hill at the Big South Conference Tournament for the FMS Rockets as they staged a dramatic seventh inning comeback to defeat arch rival Cascade 3-2 in a winner's bracket game.
Blake Leonard's game winning two run double gave Forrest the triumph after the Champions had overtaken the Rockets 2-1 in the top of the seventh.

The high school prep schedule resumes in full force today, highlighted by the Cornersville Bulldogs (16-5), who open up District 11-A Tournament play today in Cornersville versus Hampshire at 5:30 p.m.
The Lady Bulldogs (22-9) have finished up their regular season schedule and await their first round league tournament opponent.

The Forrest Lady Rockets needed all seven innings to beat Page 8-0 Wednesday night, mostly because of some badly timed base running mistakes, but in the end the 2008-2009 Class A state runners-up took care of business, claiming their tenth straight win on the road in Franklin.
Shelby Stinnett remained undefeated on the season at 13-0, turning in a lunch pail complete game effort.

The Marshall County Tigerettes (22-6, 9-1) have already enjoyed a lot of success this season, finishing second at the Commando Classic and in the Lincoln County Border Battle, beating some tough competition along the way, but what head coach Holly Cook yearns for is the same intensity that earned them those great finishes every night and she got it Tuesday in a solid 6-0 win over Fairview, giving Cook and her big cats first place in the District 12-AA standings.
"It feels good; it feels good to be in first. I like that place," said Cook after the game.

Forrest's Shelby Stinnett (12-0) turned in another one of her signature performances Monday night, circle crafting a 5-0 complete game shutout win over the visiting Cascade Lady Champions.
Stinnett continued her remarkable five-year streak of never allowing an earned run to a District 9-A opponent and in the first inning, the MTSU signee reached 1,000 strikeouts for her career.

Big hits from Brianna Roberts and KiKi Summers, who reside in the middle of the batting order for the Marshall County Tigerettes, provided the firepower and circle dweller Mieke Wallace provided seven innings of shutout ball as MCHS (9-1) continued their early season hot streak with a 9-0 win over Columbia Central (4-5) Friday night at Reese Hambrick Field in Lewisburg.
Roberts and Summers, who bat in the two and three spots, were both 3-3 with a walk and a stolen base in the ballgame.
Roberts knocked in 1 run and scored all four times she was on base and Summers knocked in three with a single, double and a triple, and scored twice.

Forrest head coach Becky Cheatham was not happy about her team's less than lackluster 2-4 pre-season performance in the Nike Gulf Shores Tournament last week and when they arrived back in Chapel Hill they hit the practice field for some long hours to work out the kinks.
Cheatham said, "I think the hard work has paid off. As bad as I hated how we played in Florida, I have to remember we were playing excellent competition down there and we went there to get better and I think we have done that."

The Marshall County Tigerette softball team started their 2010 season in a big way over the weekend, claiming second place out of 52 participating schools at the Commando Classic in
Hendersonville.
The Tigerettes did not play in Thursday night's pool round, staying home to get ready to go to Murfreesboro the next day to support their Tiger basketball team at the state tournament.

There are only eight slots available at the state tournament in Murfreesboro and the Marshall County Tigers punched their ticket as one of the elite eight, coming away with a gut wrenching, hard fought 47-36 victory over Martin Luther King in a TSSAA sectional game Monday night at the Dottie Kelso Memorial Gymnasium in Lewisburg.
MCHS head coach Jason Tigert said about the tough win, "We knew it was going to be one of those battles. The referees let us play tonight, it was very physical and our guys did not back down and either did they. It was one of those classic sub-state games."

For the No. 2 ranked Forrest Lady Rockets it was much sooner then anyone had expected as the odds caught up with them Monday night in Cross Plains, falling 51-47 to Middle Tennessee Christian School in the semifinals of the Region 5-A Tournament at East Robertson High School.
