The two setbacks sent Forrest (2-4-2) reeling, all the way to sixth place in the final regular season standings.

After losing at home to Eagleville in dramatic fashion last week, the Forrest Rockets were squarely backed up against the playoff wall, needing to sweep the remainder of their schedule to guarantee a spot in the post-season and head coach Kyle Stacey's crew took the first step in a 49-7 rout over MTCS in Murfreesboro Friday night.
"I wish they were all like this," said a smiling Stacey after the game. "We developed some depth tonight because of injuries and I hope that pays off in the long run because we have three huge games in a row coming up."

For the majority of the night, beginning with pre-game homecoming activities, followed by a 36-6 thrashing over the Bridgeforth Bobcats, the Tigers and their fans enjoyed the festivities, only to get a major letdown when head coach Jeff Morton informed everyone that his 7-1 squad would not play in either of Saturday's conference bowl games at Spring Hill.
Morton was informed on a phone call from Spring that his team would have to take a loss for a canceled game at Whitthorne earlier in the season when in fact, his squad was told to go home because of a scheduling conflict on that afternoon by the home team.

The Marshall County Tigerettes could not have picked a better night to break their season-long winless streak as they battered Wayne County 4-1 on senior night in Lewisburg.

Week 6 was not a good one for the three Marshall County gridiron squads as they all suffered disappointing region losses last Friday night, but Week 7 brings hope of a big bounce back opportunity for at least two of them.
The Forrest Rockets (4-2, 1-1) lost a 16-14 heartbreaker to Eagleville in Chapel Hill, knocking them into second place in District 9A, but head coach Kyle Stacey's crew is still in contention in the 2A playoff format and can make amends this week with a very winnable road game at winless Middle Tennessee Christian School (0-6, 0-3).

The Cornersville Bulldogs frustrations on the gridiron continued on Friday when they suffered a 28-20 loss to the Loretto Mustangs on Homecoming.
Cornersville (0-6, 0-3 Region) had defeated Loretto each of the last two years, but got off to a slow start Friday evening and trailed 14-0 at halftime. After the Bulldogs scored on their first two possessions of the second half to tie the game at 14-14 late in the third quarter, the Mustangs (2-4, 1-2 Region) responded with two quick touchdowns to seize a 28-14 advantage with 8:42 left in the contest before staving off a late CHS rally.

For the second year in a row, the Eagleville Eagles dealt the Forrest Rockets a big blow on a quest to the top of the District 9A standings with the latest setback coming at the "Rock" in Chapel Hill Friday night as the Rockets fell by two points 16-14.
The Rockets (4-2, 1-1) were undefeated at 3-0 last season when they travelled to Eagleville and lost 14-10, but this time the tables were turned with the Eagles (7-0, 3-0) coming in unblemished.

The Forrest Lady Rockets, coming off a huge 6-2 win over Community last Tuesday, squandered a golden opportunity on Thursday as the MTCS Lady Cougars came away with a 2-2 tie to hold on to the all-important fourth place spot in the District 11A/AA standings.
Forrest trails MTCS by three points in the standings with games remaining Tuesday at Cornersville and at Summit on Thursday in the regular season finale.

The anticipation energy surrounding the first place region match-up between the Associated Press' newly inserted 4A tenth ranked Marshall County Tigers and 3A number three Fairview was off the charts on Homecoming night at Preston Hopkins Field in Lewisburg.
The Yellow Jackets came into the contest undefeated, sporting a high flying offense, and it didn't take long for the visitors to put the sting on the Tigers as they jumped out to an early lead they would never surrender in a 35-16 win.

The Forrest Lady Rockets began the week with a long yellow bus ride to Hickman County on Monday, and it was even a longer trip back from Centerville after a 10-6 loss, but on Tuesday night in Chapel Hill, they bounced back in a big way, stunning the Community Viqueens 6-2.
Second place Community (8-2, 4-2) had suffered just one loss to first place Page on the season coming into Monday's contest, while the Lady Rockets (2-3-1, 2-2-1) were trying to claw their way up to one of the top four spots in the District 11A/AA standings and the opportunity to host a first round district tournament game.

After suffering their first setback of the season with a 14-6 loss to Spring Hill five days earlier, the Lewisburg Middle School Tigers (5-1) quickly righted the ship by pounding the E.O. Coffman Panthers 39-8 at home on Thursday.
E.O. Coffman had defeated Spring Hill 15-14 two weeks earlier, but proved to be no match for LMS, as the Tigers forged a 26-0 lead in the first half with the help of two special teams touchdowns before opening up a 39-0 lead late in the third quarter en route to claiming the 31-point victory.
"I was pleased with the way we bounced back," said Lewisburg coach Jeff Morton. "That team beat Spring Hill so it was a good win. We were flat last week against Spring Hill, but tonight we came out with a lot of emotion and played well."
