Despite the return of senior point guard Makenzie Hopkins, the Cornersville Lady Bulldogs were dealt their first loss of the season on Friday night when they were beaten 41-31 by the Moore County Raiderettes (3-1) at the Cornersville Thanksgiving Classic. The Lady Bulldogs (2-1) held a 22-18 lead early in the third quarter, but saw their offense come to a standstill after that point while Moore County outscored CHS 23-9 the rest of the way to claim the 10-point victory. more
After defeating Spring Hill three days earlier, the Lewisburg Middle School Tigerettes (3-3) ran into a buzz saw on Thursday night, as they suffered a 47-11 loss at home to a talented Dickson County Lady Dragon squad. Having defeated LMS 49-19 in their previous meeting on Nov. 8, the Lady Dragons (4-0) blew the game open early and forged a 24-3 lead in the first half before outscoring Lewisburg 23-8 over the final two quarters to roll to the 36-point victory. more
The Lewisburg Middle School Tigers (3-3) put up a tough fight, but came up short against a strong Dickson County squad on Thursday night, as they dropped a 57-39 decision to the Dragons at home. After losing to Dickson County 50-19 nine days earlier, the Tigers turned in a more determined effort on Thursday and trailed just 25-17 at halftime. The Dragons (4-0), though, proved to have too much firepower for LMS and stretched their lead to 43-18 late in the third quarter before fending off a late Lewisburg rally and eventually claiming the 18-point victory. more
On Monday night, the Lewisburg Middle School Tigers improved their record to 4-3 on the season when they defeated the E.A. Cox Cougars 52-29 at home. Lewisburg knocked the Cougars back on their heels early and led by as many as 19 points in the first half before taking a 30-18 advantage into the break. The Tigers then outscored E.A. Cox 22-11 over the final two quarters to pull away for the 23-point victory. more
The Lewisburg Middle School Tigerettes notched their fourth victory of the season on Monday night by defeating the E.A. Cox Lady Cougars 31-26 at home. After building a 16-11 lead in the first half, the Tigerettes (4-3) opened up a 28-18 advantage early in the fourth quarter before staving off a late E.A. Cox rally. more
Coming off a hard fought 48-38 win over Community three days earlier, the Cornersville Lady Bulldogs (2-0) allowed coach Micah Landers to have a stress free night on the sidelines when they crushed the Riverside Christian Academy Lady Knights 58-12 in Fayetteville on Friday. The Lady Bulldogs blew the game open early and forged a 34-12 lead in the first half before outscoring RCA 24-0 over the final two quarters to roll to the 46-point victory. more
On Friday night, the Cornersville Bulldogs (1-1) finally reached the light at the end of the tunnel, as they defeated the Riverside Christian Academy Knights 57-55 in Fayetteville to snap a 29-game losing streak. RCA (0-2) held a 25-24 lead at the break but the Bulldogs outscored the Knights 22-13 through the first 10 minutes of the second half to seize a 46-38 advantage early in the fourth quarter. more
After losing 56-37 at Sycamore in last Tuesday night's season opening Hall of Fame game, the Marshall County High School Tigerettes travelled to the fabled Shelbyville Central High School Gymnasium for another Hall of Fame match-up with the Eaglettes. After a slow start put the Tigerettes in a deep 19-5 hole after one quarter, head coach David Junkins' young squad played the Eaglettes tough before falling 64-39. more
For the second year in a row, the Marshall County Tigerettes have dropped their first three games to to start the season as they fell 78-60 to Columbia Central Tuesday night at Dottie Kelso Memorial Gymnasium in Lewisburg. After falling behind 4-0 to begin the game, Mecia Reed scored on a three-point play after driving to the hoop. Kenytra Bumpas hit a jumper for the Lady Lions to make it a 6-3 ballgame before Jameka Braden scored on back-to-back possessions for the Tigerettes, giving MCHS a 7-6 lead. Moments later, Braden drilled a three-pointer for a 10-8 Tigerette lead. more
Marshall County boys' head basketball coach Jason Tigert must have been filled with uncertainty as his Tigers took the floor versus Columbia Central Tuesday night for their season opener in Lewisburg. 2010-2011 Class AA Mr. Basketball Kedren Johnson is up in Nashville, displaying his talents to the country as a freshman at Vanderbilt, and for most of the high school training camp period and into the first week of the season, Tigert has been without the majority of his squad due to the success of the Tiger football program. more

Cornersville Middle School came away with a pair of road victories against archrival Richland on Monday night, Nov. 14, as the Lady Bulldogs defeated the Lady Raiders 29-17 in the opener, while the Bulldogs rallied to defeat the Raiders 35-21 in the nightcap to earn their first win of the season. The Lady Bulldogs (7-4) took command of the game early against Richland and built a 15-5 lead in the first half before outscoring the Lady Raiders 14-12 over the final two quarters to claim the 12-point victory. more
The Marshall County Tigers' playoff run ended Friday night at the hands of archrival Giles County in a 28-0 Class 4A quarterfinal loss. The Tigers fell behind early and just could not muster any offense, while the Bobcats looked sharp, converting on 12 out of 13 third down attempts in the ballgame. more
On Monday night, the Marshall County Tiger bowling team notched their fifth straight victory when they defeated the Columbia Academy Bulldogs 24-3 at Fun Time Bowling in Lewisburg. The Tigerettes, meanwhile, snapped a two-game losing streak by beating CA 25-2 in the girls' contest to run their record to 4-3 on the season. more
After losing four seniors from last year's District 11-A championship squad, the Cornersville Lady Bulldogs faced some adversity in their season opener on Tuesday night, but jelled in time to defeat the Community Viqueens 48-38 at home. With senior point guard and three-time All-District selection Makenzie Hopkins still sidelined by a knee injury that she suffered in June, Cornersville appeared to be in trouble early in the second half and trailed the Viqueens 29-22 with 4:36 left in the third quarter. more
The Forrest Lady Rockets travelled to Franklin High School Tuesday night for their season opener and got an unfriendly welcome from the Lady Rebels in a 64-45 shellacking. After Scarlett Roberson tied the game at 2-2, it was all Lady Rebs as they ran off 13 consecutive points on Forrest, who would never be in the game again. more
The FMS Rockets improved to 5-4 on the season with a solid 31-29 triumph over visiting Liberty Monday night in Chapel Hill. Eighth grader Alex Brewer stepped up with a dozen points for the Rockets, who had a balanced scoring attack that included 5 points by Gary Lukonen, three points from Jesse Pruitt, Hawkin King, Marshall McKee, and David Andrews, plus a deuce from Tyler Adcock. more
The Forrest Rockets, minus some key players due to the just ended football season, played well before falling 67-49 Monday night to the Franklin Rebels in the season opener and debut of head coach Wes Hobbs. Hobbs is the son of TSSAA Hall of Fame member Wayne Hobbs, son to Cornersville Middle School girls' assistant coach Sally Hobbs, and sibling to Lady Rocket assistant Ashley Hobbs. more
The Forrest Middle School Lady Rockets (3-6) turned in a gutty performance Monday night in Chapel Hill as they snapped a four-game losing with a rough and tumble 32-29 win over Liberty. "It feels good to finally to get a win," said Forrest coach Jeremy Jean. "The kids have played this way for about three quarters every game and we have gotten beat, because we did not finish. Tonight we finished, they had a chance to lay when they made a run on us, but they stayed calm, and we pulled out a win." more
On Tuesday at Forrest, Lady Rocket senior center fielder and District 9A Most Valuable Player Adrean Jordan signed a letter of intent to attend Campbellsville University in Kentucky on a softball scholarship. Jordan, who also played 18U travel ball with the Louisville Sluggers' top team over the summer, batted .444 with 5 home runs, 39 RBIs, and 30 runs scored as she played in all 30 games for the Lady Rockets last season. more
