The Marshall County Tigerettes led at the end of every quarter, except the pivotal fourth period versus Lewis County as they let one slip away 43-41 at the Dottie Kelso Memorial Gymnasium in Lewisburg Tuesday night. "We came out and the girls followed the game plan to a tee," said MCHS head coach David Junkins. "We jumped out to a lead, but I knew Lewis County would find their rhythm and it would be a close ballgame." more
With ten seconds to go Saturday night at Lawrence County, the MCHS Tigers trailed by three points, but incredibly won the ballgame 58-55 on an Aaron Hobbs buzzer-beater, and back in Lewisburg on Tuesday, the Tigers kept the long-balls flying in a 61-41 trouncing over Lewis County. Kevin Peterson drilled a trey on Marshall County's first possession versus the Panthers to light the long ball fuse that would total 10 for the ballgame. more
The Forrest Rockets turn a new chapter this season as longtime head coach Davy McClaran resigned to become an assistant principal at the school, and in his place steps in Wesley Hobbs, a familiar name in Mid-State coaching circles. Hobbs is the son of the recently deceased TSSAA Hall of Fame member Wayne Hobbs and current Cornersville Middle School girls assistant Sally Hobbs, along with Lady Rocket assistant coach Ashley Hobbs. more
Five years have passed since Cinderella's shoe fell on the Class A basketball world when the Forrest Lady Rockets captured the school's first ever state championship in any sport under the tutelage of former coach Robby Reasonover. Current coach Jeremy Jean took over the following year as Reasonover surprised everyone with his resignation, citing personal reasons. more

After suffering the loss of his father Wayne Hobbs (TSSAA Hall of Fame) on Wednesday, Forrest head coach Wes Hobbs took his Rockets on a road trip to Lynchburg Friday night for their District 9A opener. "It's been a real tough couple days," said Hobbs after the game. "To be able to come out here is my therapy. The guys came to the funeral for my dad this morning and that meant a lot to me. They were there for me and I wanted to be there for them tonight."... more
After falling 57-48 to Giles County earlier in the week and suffering their first regular season District loss in nearly three years, the Marshall County Tigers evened their conference record at 1-1 by defeating the East Hickman Eagles 72-54 at home on Friday night. MCHS had trouble shaking the Eagles for much of the game and held a 39-30 lead at halftime before East Hickman whittled the deficit to 44-43 midway through the third quarter. more
Having lost their first seven games of the season, the Marshall County Tigerettes put a mark in the win column on Friday night by defeating the East Hickman Lady Eagles 46-32 at home. The Tigerettes (1-7, 1-1 District) controlled the game from start to finish and built a 26-10 lead in the first half before opening up a 46-19 advantage midway through the fourth quarter en route to claiming the 14-point victory. more
After enduring a winless 2010-11 campaign with an extremely young squad, the Cornersville Bulldogs were hoping that their trial by fire would pay dividends this season. Unfortunately, the Bulldogs suffered a major setback just three games into the 2011-12 campaign when senior center Mike Lovett was lost for the rest of the season due to a knee injury. An All-District performer as a junior, Lovett was Cornersville's leading scorer last year and was the Bulldogs' lone offensive threat in the low post. more
Having won three straight regular season District 11-A titles and the previous two District tournament crowns, the Cornersville Lady Bulldogs are hoping to continue their recent run of success despite the loss of four seniors from last year's squad. After starting the 2010-11 campaign with a 5-8 record, the Lady Bulldogs won their last 11 regular season games to finish with the top seed in the District tournament while receiving a first round bye. more

Forrest Boys, Tigerettes go winless at Thanksgiving Tournament After starting the season with three straight losses, the Forrest Lady Rockets finally etched a 'W' with a 42-35 win over Santa Fe Saturday at the Forrest Thanksgiving Tournament. The Lady Rockets trailed by one-point at the half, 17-16, but an 11-10 third quarter in favor of Forrest sent the game to the final eight minutes tied at 27. more
On November 3, the LMS Tigerettes eked out a 30-27 win in Lewisburg versus archrival Whitthorne, and on Monday in Maury County, the Tigerettes almost made it two in row before falling 40-33 in overtime. LMS scored a single basket in the first quarter by Katie Greer, but the Lady Tigers scored just six in the period to lead 6-2. more
For the second time this year, the LMS Tigers (5-3) defeated their archrivals and namesake Whitthorne in a tough 46-36 battle in Maury County Monday night. After falling behind 7-3 late in the first quarter, Curtis Keiler drained a long three-bomb for LMS with 21.0 seconds left. more

On Saturday night, the Cornersville Bulldogs missed a chance to pick up their second victory of the season, as the Fayetteville Tigers defeated CHS 71-63 in overtime behind a barrage of three-pointers at the Cornersville Thanksgiving Classic. After overcoming a three-point deficit in the final two minutes of regulation, the Bulldogs (1-3) held a 56-53 lead in the waning moments of the fourth quarter, but Fayetteville reserve guard Nick Hopkins buried a three with five seconds left to send the game into overtime tied at 56-56. more
The Cornersville Lady Bulldogs (3-1) bounced back from their first loss of the season by defeating the Fayetteville Lady Tigers 56-38 on Saturday night at the Cornersville Thanksgiving Classic. Cornersville had trouble shaking the Lady Tigers in the first half and held a 23-17 lead at the break before Fayetteville narrowed the gap to 25-21 early in the third quarter. more
The Cornersville Bulldogs (1-2) were unable to overcome a bad break on Friday night, as they lost 47-33 to the Moore County Raiders at the Cornersville Thanksgiving Classic while senior center and leading scorer Mike Lovett was forced to leave the game early in the third quarter due to a knee injury. more
