The Marshall County Tigers allowed Yellow Jackets to buzz around Dottie Kelso Memorial Gymnasium early before pouncing on their visitors from Fairview and then never let up in a huge 59-33 swatting Friday night in Lewisburg. The win was the sixth in a row for the Tigers as they improved to 7-1 on the season and their 5-1 District 12AA mark puts them in a tie for second place with Giles County (7-1, 4-1), headed into the holiday tournament play. more
The Cornersville Lady Bulldogs continued their recent mastery of Santa Fe by going on the road and defeating the Lady Wildcats 48-43 on Friday night to record their seventh straight victory over their District 11-A rival. Boasting an 8-3 record and a 3-0 mark in District play coming into Friday's game, Santa Fe appeared they might break CHS' hex over them and held a 39-37 lead with 1:14 left in the contest after rallying from an eight-point fourth quarter deficit. more
On Saturday night, the Marshall County Tigers (8-1) reeled off their seventh straight victory by defeating the Lincoln County Falcons 58-52 in Fayetteville. After defeating MCHS twice last year, the Falcons come into Saturday's contest with an 8-3 record and held a tenuous 34-32 lead with 2:06 left in the third quarter. more

The Marshall County Tigerettes fell below .500 in District 12-AA play on Tuesday night when they lost 54-41 on the road to the Page Lady Patriots. Page (6-2, 3-1) took control of the game early and built a 26-13 lead in the first half before opening up a 35-13 cushion with 5:20 left in the third quarter. more
On Tuesday night, the Marshall County Tigers extended their current winning streak to five games by whipping district rival Page 57-40 in Franklin. Having defeated the Patriots five straight times coming into Tuesday's contest, the Tigers (6-1, 4-1) dominated the first half of play and held a commanding 34-14 lead at the break. For the second time in three games, the Forrest Lady Rockets did not play their best ball, but came back with a chance to tie the game or win late, only to see an easy shot bound off the rim no good. This time it was the MTCS Lady Cougars who were the beneficiaries of the Forrest bad luck, coming away with their first ever win in Chapel Hill 47-39. more
The Forrest Rockets, coming off four straight victories, including three consecutive district wins faltered down the stretch versus MTCS in Chapel Hill Monday and it cost them a two-point, 68-66 loss. The Forrest Rockets let one slip away on Monday at home versus MTCS, but were determined not to let it happen again on Tuesday night at Cascade and they didn't, barely escaping Wartrace with a 49-48 win over a tough Champions squad. Mark Pope turned in another monster performance for the Rockets, pouring in a game high 23 points, including five three-pointers and a couple of huge free throws down the stretch. more
Just when things looked as bleak as they could be, the Forrest Lady Rockets displayed the heart of champions as they came back from the depths of an eighteen-point deficit to shock the Cascade Lady Champions in Wartrace Tuesday night 58-57. "At any time in the first half or even in the third quarter, these girls could have quit, but they didn't," said Forrest head coach Jeremy Jean after the game. "We talked last night about believing in what we are doing and being all in They bought in to each other and they kept battling and kept battling and the shots starting falling and we had a good outcome." more
In four exciting and highly successful years at Marshall County High School with current Vanderbilt freshman Kedren Johnson, the Tigers posted 99 wins and 31 losses, including back-to-back undefeated district slates in 2009-2010 and 2010-2011. The Tigers went 54-2 in district play over the four-year period, won two Region 6-AA titles and made one appearance at the TSSAA State Tournament in Murfreesboro, making it all the way to the semifinals before losing to Bolivar in overtime 64-58 in the 2009-2010 season. more

The Forrest Lady Rockets (3-6, 1-2) went through some more growing pains over the weekend, losing to Huntland 45-37 in overtime in Chapel Hill Friday, but came back with a big 46-43 nail biting win at Cornersville (4-5, 0-1) on Saturday. Forrest turned in one of their worst shooting performances in recent memory versus the Lady Hornets (7-3, 2-1) Friday night, yet still managed to claw their way back in to the ballgame to force overtime before falling by eight to their District 9A opponent. more
It is not easy being a Tigerette head coach, especially when the wins and losses are hard to come by as in recent years, but this is exactly where second year head coach David Junkins wants to be and he relishes the challenge of living up to the lore of the past. "I came here because I wanted to be around that," said Junkins. "There is a huge set of shoes to fill, but that is why I came here because these girls expect to win and their parents expect them to win. They know what hard work is, their parents know what hard work is, so when we come in and be demanding in practice, the girls just know that is the way it should be and that is the way it is supposed to be." more
County High School Tigers, recently signed a letter of intent to attend Martin Methodist College in Pulaski next year on a baseball scholarship. "I chose Martin Methodist because I can get a great education there, I like the coaching staff and it is close to home, so I don't have to worry abut being there by myself," said Vernon. more
The red-hot Forrest Rockets' (6-4-3-0) winning streak increased to four games over the weekend, beginning with a 56-44 win at home Friday night versus District 9A foe Huntland (2-3, 1-1) and ending with a 53-27 thrashing at intra-county rival Cornersville (2-7, 0-1) on Saturday night. The Hornets managed to stay close to the Rockets for about five minutes in Chapel Hill, tying the game at 5-5 before Forrest scored the final nine points of the quarter to open up a 14-5 margin after the first eight minutes. more
Last week, Forrest Rockets head football coach Kyle Stacey stepped down after a successful 64-53 nine-year stint at the helm, citing personal reasons for his resignation. Forrest Principal Danny Morgan and Athletic Director Scott Delk did not leave the spot vacant for long, introducing 1999 Riverdale High School and MTSU graduate Joe Moos as the new head coach during the team's annual football banquet Saturday night in Chapel Hill. "The first thing I would like to do is thank Jesus Christ, my Lord and savior. I would like to give him all the glory for this," said Moos. "And then I would like to thank my family." more
On Tuesday night, the Cornersville Bulldogs suffered their fifth straight loss when they were defeated 53-17 by the Richland Raiders at home. With starting forward Haydon McMahon and reserves Devante Spencer and Zack Welch all sidelined by injuries, the shorthanded Bulldogs (1-6, 0-1 District) were simply overwhelmed by Richland, as the Raiders (3-4, 1-0 District) built a 34-12 lead in the first half before outscoring CHS 19-5 over the final two quarters to cruise to the 36-point victory. more
After losing their previous two games by a total of five points, the Cornersville Lady Bulldogs (3-4, 0-1) endured another frustrating defeat on Tuesday night when they were beaten 40-37 in overtime by archrival Richland at home. Cornersville held a 29-26 lead late in the fourth quarter, before the Lady Raiders (1-6, 1-0) tallied the next four points to pull ahead 30-29 with 10.5 seconds left. more
The Marshall County Tiger bowling team mowed down another opponent on Monday night and recorded their eighth straight victory by defeating the Spring Hill Raiders 24-3 at Fun Time Bowling in Lewisburg. Spring Hill, meanwhile, got the better of MCHS in the girls match, as the Lady Raiders (9-0) defeated the Tigerettes 23.5-3.5 to remain undefeated on the season. more
