First-year Forrest head coach Wes Hobbs, who was named District 9-A Coach of the Year said after the contest, "We tried to stay on the positives in there after the game, because the good thing about basketball is as long as the ball is still bouncing, we still have a chance."

The Marshall County Tigers went coast-to-coast in a not so pretty 62-48 win over Page in the first round of the District 12-AA Tournament Wednesday night at Dottie Kelso Memorial Gymnasium in Lewisburg, clinching a berth in the upcoming Region 6-AA, but first a date with archival Giles County looms in a Friday night district tournament semifinal at East Hickman.
The Tigers have lost both meetings this year to the second-seeded Bobcats, and if they turn the ball over 31 times like they did versus the Patriots, it will be a road trip west for the Tigers next week.

The Community Viqueens exorcised eight years' worth of pain Friday night at Middle Tennessee Christian School as they stunned the Forrest Lady Rockets 36-30 in the first round of the District 9-A Tournament.
The Viqueens' win over Forrest broke a 19-game losing streak, dating back to Jan. 30, 2004, and the first round district tournament loss had not happened to the Lady Rockets since the 2001-2002 season when they were axed in round one by Huntland in Chapel Hill.

Forrest head coach Wes Hobbs said after the game, "The guys executed the game plan perfect and they came out with a fire tonight from the start and that is what we wanted to see. We had our shooters make some big shots tonight, which helps a lot and it was just an all-around good win."

The Forrest Rockets, coming off a huge District 9-A title clinching win Friday night over Community, capped off the regular season slate with a 55-48 senior night victory over a scrappy Cornersville Bulldogs squad on Tuesday in Chapel Hill.
It was win number 14 in a row for Forrest (21-7) over Cornersville (2-21), dating back to February 8, 2002.
The Rockets may have been looking ahead to their district tournament opener versus Fayetteville (5-17) on Saturday at Middle Tennessee Christian School, or they may have been paying too much attention to getting Mark Pope his 1,000th point as the Bulldogs hung tough for much of the contest.
