The FMS Lady Rockets dodged the weekend raindrops and a tough Summertown squad to capture the Spring Hill Middle School Tournament, posting a 4-1 record.
In game one, FMS beat Heritage Middle School 6-1 with Mays picking up the win in the circle and Taylor Patin doing heavy damage at the dish with three-run triple in the third inning.

On Monday night, the Marshall County Tigers were forced to settle for a split of a doubleheader against District 12-AA rival Page, as MCHS rolled to a 14-6 victory in the opening game before the Patriots eked out a 2-1 win in the nightcap at Joe George Field.
In the opener, the Tigers (4-5, 3-1 District) pounded out 13 hits and drew four walks against two Page hurlers, while the Patriots (3-6, 1-3 District) aided Marshall County's cause by committing five errors, which contributed to seven of MCHS' 14 runs.

The Marshall County Tigers picked up their second win of the season on the pitch when they crushed an overmatched Richland Raider squad 10-1 at home on Monday.
MCHS (2-0-1) blew the game open early and exploded for six goals in the first 30 minutes of the contest to forge a 6-0 lead at the break before outscoring Richland 4-1 in the second half to coast to the easy victory.

Marshall County senior pitcher Kalie Hobbs had a game to remember on Friday night, as she tossed a no-hitter and drove in the lone run of the contest to lead the Tigerettes to a 1-0 victory over Hickman County at home.
Despite Hobbs' dominant performance in the circle, the Lady Bulldogs (1-5, 1-2 District) battled MCHS to a 0-0 tie through the first six innings thanks to a gutsy effort from starting hurler Emily Williams and solid defense.

Marshall County senior outfielder Danielle Toseland will join teammates Kalie Hobbs (Roane State) and Brianna Roberts (Tennessee State University) in the collegiate ranks next year after signing a letter of intent to play softball at Martin Methodist College on Friday at MCHS.
Toseland has started all four years for the Tigerettes and helped lead Marshall County to the Sectional round of the playoffs in 2009 and 2010 before MCHS posted a solid 24-14 record last season.

Moore County defeated Cornersville on the softball diamond for the first time in nine years on Tuesday night, as the Raiderettes rolled to a surprisingly easy 13-4 victory over the Lady Bulldogs at CHS.
Owning a 16-game winning streak against Moore County coming into Tuesday's contest, the Lady Bulldogs (1-3) appeared to be in good shape early on and held a 4-1 lead through the first three innings of play.

The Marshall County Tigers (3-3) had their modest two-game winning streak snapped on Wednesday night when they dropped a 7-6 decision to the Lincoln County Falcons (4-4) at home.
Aided by a six-run first inning, Lincoln County held a 7-2 lead through the first five innings of play and appeared headed for an easy victory, but had to stave off a late Tiger rally to escape with the win.

After whipping Giles County 10-2 on the road the previous evening, the Marshall County Tigers (3-2, 2-0 District) completed the regular season sweep of their longtime archrival on Tuesday night by defeating the Bobcats 6-0 at Joe George Field behind a stellar pitching performance from starting hurler Dylan McKnight.
"There's no question that this was a big win because we've split with them the last two years. We beat them at their place for the first time in a few years so getting the sweep today was great," said MCHS coach Steve Reese.

Alex Brewer led the FMS Rockets to a 10-0 win over Liberty Tuesday night, hurling a complete-game, two-hit shutout, while striking out nine and walking two Patriot batters. Brewer also drove home two runs and Ryan Yelensky went 2-3 with three runs scored and a stolen base. Boone Sweeney had a big night at the dish with a 2-4 performance as his two doubles produced two runs. Landon Jones had a hit and an RBI, Brayden Gentry also had one hit and an RBI, and Marshall McKee drove home one for the Rockets, who improved to 8-1 on the season.

The FMS Lady Rockets improved to 6-1 on the season thanks to a late offensive burst that put them over the top in a five-inning, 16-6 run-rule win over E.A. Cox Wednesday night in Chapel Hill.
Seventh grader Lainey Mays led the way with a big day at the plate for FMS, going 3-4 with three runs scored, three RBIs, and a stolen base.

After a close 3-1 loss in Eagleville Monday night, the Forrest Rockets looked for redemption Tuesday in Chapel Hill, but it was not to be as the Eagles prevailed 11-5.
"That was a big home run when we left that ball up and that kid knocked that out and it got us down a little bit and kind of got them stirred up," said FHS head coach Babe Hardison. "I told the kids that happens in baseball, I hope it happens our way next time, but that happens in baseball."

Despite a stellar performance from senior pitcher Mikey Adams, the Cornersville Bulldogs suffered their first loss of the season on Monday night when they dropped a 1-0 decision to defending District 11-A tournament champ Mt. Pleasant at home.
With staff ace Garrett Ring taking the hill for the Tigers (3-1, 3-0 District), the two teams battled to a scoreless tie through the first four innings of play before Mt. Pleasant tallied an unearned run in the top of the fifth en route to defeating the Bulldogs (2-1, 2-1 District) for the fourth time in their last five tries.

New Cornersville High School softball coach Eric Crabtree picked up his first win as the skipper of the Lady Bulldogs on Monday when his CHS squad defeated the Summit Lady Spartans 11-3 at home.
After mustering just one run in their first two outings of the season, the Lady Bulldogs crossed home plate at least once in each of the first six innings of Monday's contest en route to pounding out 15 hits against two Summit pitchers.

On Tuesday, March 13, the Rocket Band of Blue participated in the Middle Tennessee School Band and Orchestra Association Concert Performance and Sight Reading Assessment at Tullahoma High School.
The band received all Superior Ratings from all the judges, not only on their prepared music, but also on the sight-reading competition.

The Forrest Lady Rockets remained unbeaten on the season at 4-0 with a 15-0 four-inning run-rule win over the Community Viqueens Monday night at the Field of Dreams in Chapel Hill.
Brooke Herron tossed four perfect innings for the win in the circle, striking out five of the nine Viqueen batters she faced in the contest.
"Brooke had to get out there and perform to make that happen, so I am pleased," said FHS head coach Becky Cheatham. "I don't have anything to fuss about, error-wise, so hopefully we can carry that over tomorrow and step it up again."

The FMS Rockets brought some big sticks to the ballpark in Chapel Hill on Monday, sweeping the Cornersville Bulldogs 18-0 and 20-3.
After Forrest starting hurler Ryan Yelensky struck out the side in the top of the first inning in game one, Forrest sent 20 batters to the plate in the bottom of the inning and scored 16 times to put the game on ice early.
Landon Jones started the big inning, bashing a three-run shot over the left field fence and later added another run-scoring double in the frame.

On Monday, the Cornersville Bulldogs kicked off the 2012 baseball season in fine fashion by defeating District foe Santa Fe 5-0 at home behind a brilliant pitching performance from senior hurler Mikey Adams.
After winning three games in last year's District 11-A tournament, Adams picked up where he left off at the end of his junior campaign, as he fanned 13 Wildcat batters in seven innings of work while yielding just two hits and two walks en route to earning the victory.

MCHS held a 2-1 lead through the first four innings of play, but Columbia (2-0) crossed home plate five times in the bottom of the fifth with the help of some defensive miscues by the Tigers before the game was eventually halted in the sixth due to lightning.
