The Forrest Lady Rockets garnered their first win of the season Wednesday at the Forrest Thanksgiving Tournament, routing LEAD Academy 59-15. "A win is a win," said Forrest head coach Jeremy Jean. "It's a good win for the fact that the kids played our game the first half. They didn't play down to the level of what we were playing, no disrespect to them. We kept a high level of intensity, we executed, we relaxed a little bit, and some shots started falling." more
On Friday night, the Cornersville Lady Bulldogs ran their record to 2-0 on the young season by going on the road and thumping the Riverside Christian Academy Lady Knights 56-23. After defeating the Lady Knights by an average of 41 points in their two meetings last year, the Lady Bulldogs once again had little trouble disposing of RCA in Friday's contest and built a 30-12 lead in the first half before outscoring the Fayetteville based private school 26-11 over the final two quarters to coast to the 33-point victory. more
The Cornersville Bulldogs (0-2) had a chance to pick up their first win of the season on Friday night, but were unable to close the deal, as they dropped a 63-56 decision to the Riverside Christian Academy Knights in Fayetteville. After taking a 25-24 lead into the break, the Bulldogs opened up a 41-31 advantage late in the third quarter and appeared to be in control of the game. more
On Thursday night, the Lewisburg Middle School Tigerettes fell to 1-2 on the season when they suffered a 34-18 loss to Fayetteville Middle School at home. Boasting an impressive 10-3 record coming into Thursday's contest, Fayetteville buried the Tigerettes early and forged a 23-3 lead midway through the second quarter. more
Believe the hype. The Lewisburg Middle School Tigers (3-0) mauled another opponent on Thursday night when they crushed Fayetteville Middle School 59-21 at home. Fayetteville entered Thursday's contest with a stellar 10-1 record, but proved to be no match for the Tigers. Lewisburg took the wind out of FMS' sails early and built a 40-9 lead in the first half before opening up a 57-16 advantage at the end of the third quarter en route to claiming the 38-point victory. more
With Thanksgiving only three days away, the Marshall County Tigerettes (0-2) bit off more than they could chew on Monday night, as they suffered a 68-32 road loss at the hands of a talented Columbia Lady Lion squad. Augmented by the addition of sisters Keiana Gilbert and Aryanna Gilbert, who helped lead Lawrence County to the Class AAA State tournament last year, Columbia simply had too much firepower for MCHS and forged a 40-15 advantage in the first half before opening up a 60-19 cushion midway through the third quarter. more
Adrian Wilson picked up his first win as the head coach of the Marshall County Tigers basketball team on Monday night when MCHS defeated the Columbia Central Lions 61-52 on the road. Aided by a strong first quarter performance, the Tigers (1-1) led by double digits for much of the game and held a 32-17 advantage at halftime before opening up a 44-27 cushion at the end of the third period en route to claiming the nine-point victory. more
The MCHS basketball squads travelled to Harpeth Thursday night for a pair of season opening Hall of Fame games, and after putting up a good fight in each contest, the event ended up with the Tigerettes losing 47-36, while the Indians barely got by the Tigers 44-40. In the boys' game, the Indians doubled up the Tigers 28-14 at the end of the first half. more
Forrest beat the Cornersville 72-45 Monday night in Chapel Hill night, making it 11 in a row over the Bulldogs and two wins in row for the Rockets after starting the season with two losses. "We came out a little slow at first, but we got it together," said Forrest's Zach Horvath. "They have some really good drivers on their team, so we had to get our press going and we did." more
The Cornersville Lady Bulldogs trailed Forrest by eight points in the first, second and third quarters and by 10 points early in the fourth before a Kaitlyn Rogers basket with eight seconds remaining in the contest completed the final comeback in the 39-37 win in Chapel Hill Monday night. "They had us beat three times; I felt like in that game they had at least three opportunities to put us away, but we managed to play better and make less mistakes," said Cornersville head coach Micah Landers. "I felt like some of our problems were self inflicted, we wounded ourselves, but we played well the final few minutes." more
Buoyed by the return of four starters, the Marshall County Tigers are aiming to return to the top of the District 12-AA standings under new coach Adrian Wilson after finishing third in their conference last year and posting an 18-10 record. Having won the four previous regular season District titles, the Tigers started the 2011-12 basketball campaign with an 8-1 record, but posted a modest 8-7 mark over their next 15 games while finishing third behind Spring Hill and Giles County in the league standings. more
Coming off a fourth place finish in the District 12-AA tournament last season, the Marshall County Tigerettes were hoping to move up in the conference standings this year after losing just one senior. Unfortunately, MCHS took a big hit in the offseason when junior forward Jameka Braden transferred to Shelbyville after leading the Tigerettes in scoring and rebounding as a sophomore. more

To say Forrest head coach Jeremy Jean was unhappy Saturday night in Chapel Hill after his Lady Rockets' squad Hall of Fame double pummel that kept them winless would be an understatement. "We are here because this morning, we didn't show up, we had zero effort from the majority of the kids that played, who weren't ready to play," said Jean after the Loretto game. more

The Forrest Rockets, coming off a 60-44 opening season loss on Tuesday to Franklin, came back strong in Saturday's Hall of Fame twin bill in Chapel Hill, losing by two points 50-48 to Division II Class AA Pope John Paul II before trouncing Houston County 63-40 in the nightcap. "That was one of the better games we have played in a while and I give all the credit to the guys," said Forrest head coach Wes Hobbs about the two-point loss to Pope John Paul II. "We had a plan going in and they believed in it and executed." more
The Cornersville Bulldogs had a tough time of it in their season opener on Tuesday night, as they lost 61-41 on the road to an athletic Fayetteville Tiger squad. Fayetteville came flying out of the gates and built a 19-8 lead in the first quarter before opening up a 30-15 advantage late in the second period. Cornersville outscored the Tigers 7-1 over the final 1:32 of the first half with the help of a Zack Smith trey, a layup by Hayden McMahon, and a Jacob Reeves offensive put back to narrow the gap to 31-22 at the break. more
The Cornersville Lady Bulldogs opened the 2012-13 basketball campaign with a win, as they went on the road and defeated the Fayetteville Lady Tigers 44-38 on Tuesday night. Cornersville got off to a slow start and trailed 22-18 at the break. The Lady Bulldogs, however, regrouped at halftime and outscored Fayetteville 19-6 in the third quarter to seize a 37-28 lead before eventually claiming the six-point victory. more
For a little over three quarters, Forrest gave Franklin everything they had until a 20-7 fourth quarter Rebel charge did in the Rockets, who fell 60-44 on opening night in Chapel Hill. "I think we had to come out against a team like Franklin and not make any mistakes," said Forrest head coach Wes Hobbs. "You had to play almost a perfect game and when we got behind some and had to foul, they made all their free throws." more
In an exciting season opener, the Forrest Lady Rockets came within a favorable roll on a shot by eighth grader Caitlyn Yost at the buzzer of beating Franklin in regulation, only to see it slip away four minutes later in a 46-44 overtime loss at Chapel Hill Tuesday night in a Hall of Fame match-up. "I thought we should have won the ballgame," said Forrest head coach Jeremy Jean. "That's a game that we lost. I told them in the locker room, sometimes better teams beat you, no disrespect to them, but tonight we gave it to them." Forrest jumped out to an early 5-0 lead on a pair of Candace Daughrity buckets and a Savannah Brothers free throw. more
