With Christmas fast approaching, the Cornersville Lady Bulldogs stuffed some coal in the stocking of another District 11-A opponent on Tuesday night when they hammered the Mt. Pleasant Lady Tigers 58-29 on the road to remain undefeated in conference play.
Mt. Pleasant (2-8, 2-2 District) had played CHS tough on their home court each of the last two seasons and actually held a 10-9 lead early in the second quarter.

On Thursday night, the Cornersville Middle School Bulldogs were dealt their fifth straight loss when they were defeated 39-19 by the Elkton Elks in their home finale.
Although CMS had already lost to Elkton twice this season, the Bulldogs (1-10) nearly defeated the Elks in their first meeting this year on Oct. 29 before eventually suffering a heartbreaking 41-39 overtime in the first round of the Cornersville Athletic Club Booster tournament.

The Cornersville Middle School Lady Bulldogs (6-7) defeated Elkton for the third time this season when they hammered the Lady Elks 47-12 on Thursday night in their home finale.
After winning the last two meetings by an average of 29.5 points, the Lady Bulldogs once again had little trouble disposing of Elkton and built a 26-6 lead in the first half before outscoring the Lady Elks 21-6 over the final two quarters to roll to the 35-point victory.

Riverdale snapped the Marshall County Tigers' five game winning streak on Saturday when the Warriors rallied to defeat MCHS 59-47 in Murfreesboro.
After trailing by as many as 11 points in the first quarter, the Tigers (6-3) held a 31-30 lead at halftime before opening up a 43-40 advantage at the end of the third period despite losing senior shooting guard Kevin Peterson to an ankle injury late in the stanza.

The Cornersville Lady Bulldogs defeated District 11-A foe Culleoka for the 20th straight time on Friday night when they thumped the Lady Warriors 70-47 on the road.
Cornersville (8-1, 3-0 District) steadily pulled away from Culleoka and built a 35-26 lead in the first half before outscoring the Lady Warriors 35-21 over the final two quarters to cruise to their third consecutive win.

The Marshall County Tigerettes travelled to Fairview Friday night, needing a win after losing three consecutive district tilts in a row and they got it in convincing fashion, scoring a 52-38 victory.
MCHS controlled the game midway through the first period and never let up, holding off a couple of comeback attempts by the Lady Yellow Jackets.

The Marshall County Tigers stepped off the bus at Fairview with a hot hand and never let up, easily winning their fifth consecutive District 12-AA contest 67-50.
"I am very pleased with our performance tonight, the boys came out and took control early and didn't look back," said MCHS head coach Adrian Wilson. "We have lots of room for improvement, but the will and determination these young men have is already in place."

The Forrest Rockets' wrestling team continued their hot streak Thursday night in Chapel Hill, improving to 13-4 on the season after sweeping LaVergne and Lawrence County in a Dual Meet.
"We are off to a good start, but it is a long season and we must stay healthy and keep improving each day," said Forrest head coach Kyle Stacey. "I feel like we have a pretty good chance of sending 3 or 4 to state, but it's hard to say this early in the season."

After experiencing several near misses earlier in the season, the Cornersville Bulldogs (1-8, 1-2 District) picked up their first win under new coach Gerard Randolph on Friday night when they defeated the Culleoka Warriors 48-43 on the road.
The two teams battled to a 22-22 tie in the first half before Cornersville surged out to a 35-28 lead early in the fourth quarter.

The Forrest hoops squads suffered a pair of road losses in Murfreesboro Monday night with the girls losing 59-56, followed by an 82-72 loss by the Rockets.
The girls game was a whistle-happy foul affair with the officials calling 50 total fouls in the contest.

For first three quarters, the Marshall County Tigerettes gave Page all they could handle, but were unable to hold off the Lady Patriots in the end, as the defending District 12-AA champs rallied from an eight-point second half deficit to defeat MCHS 47-33 in Lewisburg on Tuesday night.
Although Page returns all five starters from a team that posted a 24-5 record and advanced to the Sectional round of the playoffs last season, the Tigerettes (2-8, 2-3 District) did not seem to be intimidated and appeared poised to pull off the upset after building a 31-23 lead late in the third quarter.

On Monday night, the Lewisburg Middle School Tigers (8-0) completed the season sweep of Whitthorne Middle School by defeating WMS 57-27 at home.
Having crushed Whitthorne 65-19 in their previous meeting on Nov. 29, Lewisburg had trouble shaking WMS early on in Monday's contest and trailed for much of the first half before taking a 24-17 lead into the break.

After losing just one regular season District 9A game last season, the Forrest Rockets are now mired in a three-game league losing streak following a 65-57 loss to the Cascade Champions Tuesday night in Chapel Hill.
The Rockets, who did not lose a home district contest the entire 2011-2012 campaign, fell to 6-6 overall on the season and are 1-3 in district play.

The Lewisburg Middle School Tigerettes (2-6) snapped their six-game losing streak on Monday night when they defeated Whitthorne Middle School 34-30 at home.
Whitthorne had narrowly defeated Lewisburg 36-34 in their previous meeting on Nov. 29, and held a 20-15 lead at halftime of Monday's contest before opening up a 27-18 advantage midway through the third quarter.

The Cornersville Lady Bulldogs picked up an important District win on Tuesday night when they defeated archrival Richland 55-44 at home to notch their second straight win over the Lady Raiders.
In the nightcap, the Bulldogs had a much tougher time of it and dropped a 63-34 decision to a strong Richland squad.
After handing CHS their only District loss last year, Richland came into Tuesday's contest with a 2-0 record in conference play and had defeated their first two league opponents by an average of 27 points.

The Cascade Lady Champions travelled to Chapel Hill on a four-game winning streak, undefeated in District 9A play and seemingly with the upper hand Tuesday night, but the Forrest Lady Rockets spoiled the party, knocking off the Wartrace girls 50-42.
It was the eighth consecutive victory for the Lady Rockets over Cascade (7-3, 3-1) and the first district win for Forrest (4-9, 1-3) this season.

On Friday night, the Cornersville Bulldogs suffered their third straight close loss when they were defeated 51-44 at home by Columbia Academy in their District 11-A opener.
Having won the last seven meetings against CHS, Columbia Academy (6-1, 2-0 District) built a 24-18 lead in the first half, prior to opening up a 39-26 advantage early in the fourth quarter.
CA then had to withstand a late rally attempt by the Bulldogs (0-7, 0-1 District) that saw Cornersville slice the deficit to three points in the final minute of play before escaping with the seven-point victory.
