On Tuesday night, the Lewisburg Middle School Tigerettes (2-10) suffered their fourth straight narrow defeat when they dropped a 19-17 decision to the Tullahoma West Lady Bobcats at home. LMS held a 10-9 lead early in the third quarter, but the Lady Bobcats outscored Lewisburg 10-7 the rest of the way to eke out the two-point victory. more
The Community Vikings sacked the Rockets 47-45 in Chapel Hill Tuesday night, dealing out the latest heartbreaker to Forrest. The Rockets (10-8, 2-5) won all the close ballgames last year on their way to the District 9-A regular season title, but the tide has turned on the blue and white, who have been on the short end of most of the nail biters this season. more
Despite coming off a three-week layoff, the Lewisburg Middle School Tigers (12-0) showed few signs of rust on Tuesday night, as they crushed the Tullahoma West Bobcats 53-16 at home. LMS dominated the game from the opening tip and built a 33-9 lead in the first half before outscoring the Bobcats 20-7 over the final two quarters to cruise to the 37-point victory. more

Both Cornersville basketball teams picked up District wins on Tuesday night, as the Lady Bulldogs defeated the Hampshire Lady Hawks 70-41 on the road before the Bulldogs snapped a four-game losing streak with a 54-45 win over the Hawks. Having won the previous 15 meetings against Hampshire, the Lady Bulldogs (13-3, 6-0 District) held a slim 17-15 lead at the end of the first quarter, but broke the game open in the second period by putting together a 20-4 run to forge a 37-19 advantage at halftime. more
The Marshall County High School hoops squads took a yellow bus trip to Centerville Tuesday night and it turned out to be a good ride home as both teams came away with victories over Hickman County. The Tigerettes won their second straight game, taking down the Lady Bulldogs 55-46 to improve to 5-3 in District 12-AA play. more

The LMS Tigers have been the dominant force in middle school basketball for five years, adding feat after remarkable feat and on Thursday night in Lewisburg, they etched another mark in the record books, finishing an undefeated regular season (13-0) their way, via a 56-19 run and gun thrashing over E. A. Cox. "We have put a lot of work in, a lot of time, a lot of practice and the boys have played hard this year, we have played together," said LMS head coach David Lovell. more
On Saturday, the Forrest Lady Rockets (7-12) narrowly missed pulling off a big upset, as they dropped a 63-57 decision on the road to a strong Summertown Lady Eagle squad. After advancing to the semifinals of the Class A State tournament last season, Summertown (12-2) held a 35-20 lead early in the third quarter, but the Lady Rockets came storming back and used a 31-12 run to pull ahead 51-47 with 5:10 left in the four period. more
Cold second half shooting proved to be the demise of the Cornersville Bulldogs (2-13, 1-4 District) on Friday night, as they were defeated 56-43 by the Santa Fe Wildcats at home. The Bulldogs held a 24-23 lead at the break, but Santa Fe (8-7, 3-2 District) quickly grabbed the momentum at the start of the second half and outscored CHS 33-19 over the final two quarters en route to recording their eighth straight victory over Cornersville. more
The Marshall County Tigers have lost four out of their last five ballgames, but the latest setback was a big one as they blew a fourth quarter lead and fell to Spring Hill 49-42 Friday night in Lewisburg. "Giving up the lead and ultimately the game is very disappointing," said MCHS head Coach Adrian Wilson. "We definitely let one get away from us." more
The Cornersville Lady Bulldogs once again got the better of Santa Fe on Friday night, as they defeated the Lady Wildcats 45-25 at home to record their 10th straight victory over their District 11-A rival. Cornersville (12-3, 5-0 District) buried the Lady Wildcats early and forged a 26-10 lead in the first half before opening up a 45-19 advantage late in the fourth quarter en route claiming the 20-point win. more
After suffering a 68-52 loss to Fayetteville the previous evening, the Forrest Rockets (10-7) got back in the win column on Saturday night by defeating the Summertown Eagles 66-51 on the road. Summertown (2-12) appeared determined to defend their home court and trailed just 22-21 at halftime before seizing a 30-28 advantage early in the third quarter. The Rockets, however, got their offense cranked up after that point and outscored the Eagles 38-21 the rest of the way to take home the 15-point victory. more
The Marshall County Tigerettes, coming off a trio of holiday tournament losses, took care of business Friday night at Dottie Kelso Memorial Gymnasium in Lewisburg with a big 56-37 District 12-AA win over Spring Hill. All four of the Tigerettes' wins on the season have come against league foes, putting the Lewisburg girls in the thick of the district race. MCHS (4-11, 4-3) jumped out to a huge 8-0 start versus the Lady Raiders, beginning with a Mecia Reed three-pointer, followed by a steal and score by Allison Hargrove and capped by another long three-bomb by Reed from the top of the key. more
The Forrest Rockets began the New Year with a bang, splitting a dual match with Independence and Summit before a strong fifth place finish at the 2013 Dawg Pound Wrestling Tournament in Smyrna. "This was our first tournament this year, so I was pleased overall with our performance as a team," said Forrest head coach Kyle Stacey. "But, I feel our wrestlers need to get more tournament wrestling in before the all-important Region Tournament in February." more

For the fourth time in the last five games, the Marshall County Tigers (7-6) were unable to hold onto a halftime lead, as the Centennial Cougars (9-4) rallied to defeat MCHS 46-40 on Thursday afternoon at the Beech Holiday Classic. Playing their fifth straight Class AAA opponent, the Tigers did not seem to be bothered by the Cougars' superior height early on and built a 28-23 lead at halftime. more
After falling to Centennial 46-40 in the first round, the Marshall County Tigers (8-7) split their next two games at the Beech Holiday Classic en route to finishing sixth in the tournament. MCHS bounced back from their loss to Centennial by beating the White House Blue Devils 53-39 on Friday afternoon, but were defeated 58-47 by the Hunters Lane Warriors in the fifth place game on Saturday. more
The Cornersville Bulldogs (2-11) took one on the chin last Friday afternoon when they were defeated 74-39 by the Fayetteville Tigers (7-5) at the Richland Christmas Classic. CHS narrowly lost to Fayetteville 48-47 in their previous meeting on Nov. 30, but the Tigers completely dominated Friday's game and built a 43-14 lead in the first half before outscoring the Bulldogs 31-25 over the final two quarters to cruise to their third win of the season over Cornersville. more
