Coming off a heartbreaking loss to Lewis County two days earlier, the Marshall County Tigerettes (7-12, 7-4 District) vented their frustrations on archrival Giles County (4-15, 3-7 District) when they crushed the Lady Bobcats 63-29 on Thursday night in Pulaski. Aided by a strong first quarter performance, the Tigerettes held a 31-18 lead at the break before turning the game into a rout in the second half by outscoring Giles County 32-11 over the final two quarters to roll to the 34-point win. more
The Class-A No.2 ranked Summertown (19-3) Lady Eagles painstakingly dismantled Forrest 55-37 Saturday night in Chapel Hill, sending the Lady Rockets (9-16) reeling to their fourth loss in five games, including three consecutive setbacks. Summertown started quickly, beginning with a Sara Beth Smith 3-bomb on their first touch of the ballgame. Morgan Long followed with two free throws for Summertown before Savannah Brothers got the Lady Rockets going with a three-pointer. more
After a tough District 9-A loss at Cascade on Friday, the Forrest Rockets bounced back with a big 75-47 homecoming win versus Summertown Saturday night in Chapel Hill. Seniors Zach Horvath and Mark Pope led the way for the Rockets, scoring 20 and 19 points respectively. The Rockets jumped out to an early 9-0 lead on the back of the two seniors and led 11-7 at the end of the first quarter. Nate Morrison scored for the Eagles to begin the second quarter, but Tyler "Juice" Rumley drained a three-pointer at the other end for Forrest. more
Despite being pushed to the brink on Friday night, the Marshall County Tigers (12-9, 9-3 District) found a way to come away with a win, as they rallied to defeat the Summit Spartans 60-57 in overtime on Homecoming after trailing by as many as 13 points in the third quarter. MCHS had won all three previous meetings against Summit, including a 49-45 victory on Dec.7, but the Spartans (8-12, 6-5 District) appeared they might turn the tables on Marshall County in Friday's contest and built a 40-27 lead early in the third quarter. more
The Forrest wrestling squad took to the mat Thursday in the Region 7A/AA duals at Summit High School with high hopes, and after beating Creekwood and Montgomery Central, the Rockets fell to Eagleville 45-36 in a spirited championship final. "The loss to Eagleville was tough, but I'm proud of the fact that we put ourselves in the situation to win the region championship," said Forrest head coach Kyle Stacey. "Eagleville has a very good wrestling team and I wish them the best of luck in the state duals. They will do a good job of representing our region." more
Marshall County High School senior Austin Hunt turned in a strong showing at the Division I State Bowling Championships last Thursday by advancing to the semifinals of the boys individual tournament en route to finishing 16th in the tourney overall. "I'm extremely proud of Austin. He is a good bowler and a good person. I know he's going to be successful after he graduates," said MCHS coach Robby Giles. "He has a good work ethic. He practices on his own and competes in a league. He does all the little things you need to be in order to be a good player." more

After winning the TMSAA Middle Tennessee Class AA Sectional tournament championship last year, the Lewisburg Middle School Tigers (17-0) began defense of their title on Tuesday night by defeating the Sycamore Knights 58-32 in the quarterfinals at E.O. Coffman Middle School. Although leading scorers Jay Howard and D'Andre Brown were forced to sit out much of the second quarter due to foul trouble, LMS was able to overcome the early adversity and still held a 23-20 lead at halftime. more
MTCS snapped Forrest's 16-game winning streak over the Lady Cougars at the 2009-2010 Region Tournament and since then, the Murfreesboro private school has won three out the last six meetings, including a sweep of the season series this year. The Lady Rockets fell 61-56 Tuesday night in Chapel Hill in a contest that they fought from behind in most of the game. "Every time we had a lead, we did something not smart to lose it," said Forrest head coach Jeremy Jean. "We kept doing stuff we couldn't do and it came back to bite us. Everybody is shooting layups on us and we can't defend." Forrest never led by more than four points in the ballgame and had to fight from behind by as many as seven points early in the third period. more
On Tuesday night, the Cornersville Lady Bulldogs snapped a two-game losing streak by pummeling District 11-A foe Culleoka 66-33 at home to record their 21st straight win over the Lady Warriors. With Cornersville coach Micah Landers substituting liberally throughout the game, the Lady Bulldogs (14-5, 7-1 District) quickly wore down Culleoka (7-15, 4-5 District) and built a 30-15 lead in the first half before outscoring the Lady Warriors 36-18 over the final two quarters to complete the sweep of the regular season series. more
A total of three points separated both MCHS hoops squads from gaining a road sweep in Lewis County Tuesday night with the boys coming away with a 48-46 win, while the Tigerettes lost by the slimmest of margins, 58-57. Marissa Lyttle, the game's leading scorer, poured in 30 points for the Tigerettes, who led 27-25 at the half before the Lady Panthers came up with a 21-point third quarter, taking a 44-37 lead into the final eight minutes. more

The Cornersville Bulldogs picked up an important District 11-A win on Tuesday night when they defeated Culleoka 48-42 at home to complete the season sweep of the Warriors. Culleoka (6-14, 2-7 District) was coming off a stunning upset victory over three-time District tournament champ Mt. Pleasant four days earlier, but were unable to carry that momentum into Tuesday's contest, as Cornersville built an 18-8 lead in the first half. more
The Forrest Rockets won their third consecutive district contest Tuesday night in Chapel Hill, knocking off AP Class-A No. 7 Middle Tennessee Christian School (MTCS) 67-48 in a ballgame that got very testy at the end. "I think it says a lot to the competiveness of both teams," said Forrest head coach Wes Hobbs. "They got a little frustrated, but we did too at the end, but it just goes to show the toughness and the determination to win by both teams. It got a little out of hand in the crowd more than it did on the court." more
A Rocket made a return trip to Chapel Hill on Wednesday as former Forrest football standout and defensive coordinator Brian Coleman was announced as the new Rockets' head football coach. "I have always wanted to a be a head coach, it's been a lifelong goal and I love this place, hometown, so this was just a great opportunity," said Coleman. more
After longtime coach Ray Stocstill recently stepped down, Cornersville High School quickly found a new man to lead their football program when they promoted offensive line coach John Denton to their head coaching position. "I'm really excited. It's been a lifelong goal and dream of mine to be a head coach," said Denton. "I've learned under a lot of great coaches growing up and they've given me some guidance so it's something I've always wanted to do." more
On Friday night, the Cornersville Bulldogs gave Richland a run for their money for the first three quarters, but were unable to come away with the win, as CHS dropped a 45-34 decision to the Raiders in Lynnville. Having lost to Richland 63-34 in their previous meeting on Dec. 11, the Bulldogs (3-15, 2-5 District) only trailed 17-13 at halftime of Friday's contest before rallying to tie the game at 24-24 late in the third quarter. more
After pulling off a stunning upset against second seeded Bridgeforth six days earlier, the Lewisburg Middle School Tigerettes (5-10) earned a berth in the championship game of the TMSAA Area 2 Class AA tournament by defeating the Spring Hill Lady Generals 19-16 in the semifinals on Friday night at Lewis County Middle School. The LMS Tigers also earned a spot in the title round when they crushed the fourth seeded Lewis County Panthers 65-28 later that night to remain undefeated on the season. more
The Cornersville Lady Bulldogs suffered their first loss of the season in District play on Friday night when they were defeated 49-42 by archrival Richland in Lynnville. After beating the Lady Raiders 55-44 in their previous meeting on Dec. 11, the Lady Bulldogs (13-5, 6-1 District) took an 18-16 lead into halftime of Friday's contest and held a 37-36 advantage early in the fourth quarter. CHS, however, faltered down the stretch, as Richland (10-7, 7-1 District) outscored Cornersville 13-5 the rest of the way with the help of some clutch foul shooting to pull out the seven-point win. more
