After pillaging the Community Viqueens 60-31 in Unionville Friday night, the Forrest Lady Rockets took on a scrappy Eagleville squad Saturday afternoon in a make-up game, barley escaping 42-39.
"They got up in our face and we weren't ready for it after coming off a pretty big high from last night at Community," said Forrest head coach Jeremy Jean. "But, we weathered the storm and got the lead and held on to it."

The Marshall County Tigerettes have proven this season that winning inside the district is all that really matters for the post-season as they have risen to third place in District 12-AA after a 55-51 win over Fairview Friday night at Dottie Kelso Memorial Gymnasium in Lewisburg.
"We really emphasize winning those district games against our district foes and when it gets down to it, the district wins are what counts," said MCHS head coach David Junkins. "We stuck one out here at the end, we made it a little tough on ourselves, but we got the win and now we are in third place."

The Marshall County Tigerettes were unable to stop Page's undefeated run through District 12-AA, as MCHS suffered a 63-35 road loss at the hands of the Lady Patriots on Tuesday night.
Marshall County (8-14, 8-5 District) had played Page tough in their previous encounter on Dec. 11, before the defending District champs pulled away late for a 47-33 victory.

You can't teach size. Columbia Academy handed the Cornersville Bulldogs their second straight loss on Monday night, as CA defeated CHS 56-39 at Anderson Fieldhouse behind a strong performance from 6'8" center Andrew Golden.
Ranked fourth in the current Class A AP state poll, Columbia Academy (18-3, 9-2 District) built a 25-13 lead in the first half before forging a 41-18 advantage late in the third quarter en route to claiming the 17-point victory.
Despite committing only 10 turnovers and hitting 5-of-13 three-point attempts, Cornersville (4-17, 3-7 District) finished with a modest 14 field goals on 25 percent shooting, while CA blocked 10 shots in the contest.

The Forrest Lady Rockets picked up a crucial win Tuesday in Chapel Hill on senior night, taking down the Fayetteville City Lady Tigers 58-37.
With the win, coupled with Cascade's 49-44 victory over MTCS (14-10, 7-6), Forrest (10-16, 6-6) now controls its own destiny and can finish in third place in District 9-A with triumphs at Community (14-9, 8-5) on Friday and in Chapel Hill on Saturday afternoon versus Eagleville (6-17, 2-10).

The Marshall County Tigers picked up an important District win on Tuesday night when they defeated fourth place Page 67-54 on the road to complete the season sweep of the Patriots.
MCHS (14-9, 10-3 District) had won the last nine meetings against Page, which included a 72-63 victory on Dec. 11, but the Patriots (9-12, 6-5 District) hung tough early on and held a 33-32 lead at the end of the first half.

The Cornersville Lady Bulldogs (16-5, 9-1 District) continued their mastery over Columbia Academy by pummeling CA 60-23 on Monday night at the Maury County private school's new minted Anderson Fieldhouse.
Cornersville dominated the game from start to finish and built a 35-8 lead in the first half before outscoring Columbia Academy 25-15 over the final two quarters to cruise to their third straight victory.

Mark Pope made the most of senior night Tuesday in Chapel Hill, pouring in a game-high 22 points, including the game winning basket with 9.4 seconds remaining in the contest to lift the Rockets to a 62-60 win over Fayetteville.
"Coach wanted me to take it one on one, so I did," said Pope. "I was just looking to score and finish, or get the foul and I got both."
Forrest squandered a seven-point fourth quarter lead before needing Pope's late heroics to capture the all-important win for the Rockets that kept them in the thick of the chase for a first-round home game in the upcoming District 9-A Tournament.

On Monday night, the Marshall County Tigers (13-9) completed the season sweep of Columbia Central (6-17) by defeating the Lions 57-49 at home.
The Tigerettes (8-13), meanwhile, had their modest two-game winning streak snapped earlier in the evening when they were thumped 67-19 by a strong Lady Lion squad.
Having defeated Columbia 61-52 in their previous meeting on Nov. 19, the Tigers took charge early in Monday's contest and jumped out to a 14-8 lead in the first quarter behind six points from Chris Walker.

On Saturday, the Lewisburg Middle School Tigers advanced to the championship game of the TMSAA Middle Tennessee Class AA Sectional tournament for the second straight year by hammering the Cheatham County Bearcats 43-7 in the semifinals at E.O. Coffman Middle School.
Cheatham County had defeated Bridgeforth 31-24 in the opening round of the tournament, but proved to be no match for the Tigers. Lewisburg built a 30-2 lead in the first half before outscoring the Bearcats 13-5 over the final two quarters to run their record to 18-0 on the season.

After long-time Forrest baseball coach Babe Hardison retired last year, the search was on for a new leader and when FHS athletic director Scott Delk became aware of a familiar name interested in the job, he knew he had his man.
That man was Farmington native and 1992 Marshall County High School graduate Chris Parker, who had already become a respected coach with a winning past, and Delk knew Parker was a full-time baseball junkie, who loved to get his hands dirty.

The LMS Tigers scratched and clawed in a Big Cat fight with their namesake mascots from Charlotte before eventually wearing out and pouncing on their opponents 51-36 to claim the TMSAA Middle Tennessee Sectional Title for the fourth time in five years and the second time in back-to-back fashion.
"It feels great," said Lewisburg head coach David Lovell. "This group works so hard and they play together so well, they deserve this championship."

The Marshall County Tigers (11-9, 8-3) had archrival Giles County on the ropes, but were unable to deliver the knockout blow, as they Bobcats rallied from a four-point fourth quarter deficit to defeat MCHS 56-47 on Thursday night in Pulaski.
Giles County(17-2, 10-0) had won the last four meetings against Marshall County, which included a 61-42 victory on Nov. 27, but the Tigers stood toe-to-toe with the Bobcats for much of Thursday's contest and held a 25-22 lead at halftime before opening up a 38-34 advantage with 6:52 left in the fourth quarter.

Both Forrest hoops squads lost in Wartrace Friday night, beginning with a heartbreaking 47-45 last second defeat for the Lady Rockets and ending with a 10-point loss by the Rockets.
The sweep by Cascade gave both Chapel Hill teams 5-6 league records and they are now on the outside looking in for the upcoming District 9-A Tournament, stuck in fifth place and in danger of having to make a first round road trip.

The Marshall County Tigerettes kept themselves in line to host a first round District tournament game by defeating fifth place Summit 43-34 on Homecoming to earn a split of the season series with the Lady Spartans.
Summit (8-13, 6-5 District) had defeated MCHS 52-48 in their previous meeting on Dec. 7 and held a 23-16 lead at halftime of Friday's contest.
The Lady Spartans, however, had trouble putting the ball in the basket in the second half, as the Tigerettes (8-12, 8-4 District) outscored Summit 27-11 over the final two quarters to pull out the nine-point win.

The LMS Tigerettes' stellar post-season run ended Thursday night at E.O. Coffman Middle School in Lawrenceburg after a 32-16 loss to Harpeth Middle School in the first round of the Middle Tennessee Class AA Sectional tournament.
"We had a lot of good shots, we just couldn't get enough to drop," said LMS head coach Chris Coleman. "This result in no way takes away from the season and the wins that we have had. I am proud of the kids, tonight didn't turnout the way we wanted, but we have had a good, productive and solid season, especially with a tremendous finish."

The Cornersville Lady Bulldogs clinched one of the top two seeds in the upcoming District 11-A tournament on Thursday night by defeating third place Mt. Pleasant 52-30 at home to complete the season sweep of the Lady Tigers.
In the second game of the evening, the Bulldogs had a much tougher time of it, as they suffered an 83-39 loss at the hands of a talented Mt. Pleasant Tiger squad.
