The Forrest Lady Rockets continued their early season hot streak in Chapel Hill Tuesday night, beating Summertown 55-44 for their fourth win in a row and the first over the Lady Eagles in the last six meetings.
"We have started good and we start games pretty good too," said Forrest head coach Jeremy Jean. "We come out hot with defensive intensity the last couple of games, but we have to find a way to keep that intensity the whole way through.

On Thursday, the Marshall County Tigerettes let a victory slip through their hands when they squandered a 17-point third quarter lead en route to suffering a heartbreaking 51-50 road loss to the Huntland Lady Hornets.
Marshall County held a 27-10 lead early in the third quarter and appeared to be in complete control of the contest before Huntland (4-1) came storming back and tied the game at 35-35 with 6:25 left in the fourth period.
The Tigerettes (1-6) then pulled back ahead 50-45 late in the fourth quarter, but MCHS was unable to keep the Lady Hornets at bay down the stretch, as Huntland ended the game with a 6-0 run, capped by a Tara Cates layup with :07 left, to pull out the improbable one-point win.

After a big 37-16 opening round win over Westwood in the 52nd Annual World Tournament in Chapel Hill, the Forrest Lady Rockets went cold on offense in their next two games to finish in fourth place.
In round two on Thursday, the undefeated Community Viqueens posted a 37-11 win over Forrest and in Saturday's consolation match, Moore County took third place with a 34-19 victory over the Lady Rockets.

The FMS Rockets were true to their second seed in the Duck River Valley Conference Tournament, convincingly beating Community 40-31 in Thursday night's semifinal before falling 40-25 to Liberty in Saturday's championship game in Chapel Hill.
"What a season, I loved it," said FMS head coach Randy Toombs. "The guys were very coachable, respectful, and bought into the team philosophy. These are some hard working and dedicated young men and the parents were one of the best groups I have ever had. They were supportive and always willing to help when asked."

After pounding Culleoka 84-39 two weeks earlier, the Marshall County Tigers (4-1) took the Warriors behind the woodshed again on Saturday night when they rolled to a 65-18 win at home.
The Tigers overwhelmed Culleoka (1-6) at the start of the game and built a 37-8 lead in the first half before outscoring the Warriors 28-10 over the final two quarters to record their third straight blowout victory.

Having lost to Culleoka 56-49 two weeks earlier, the Marshall County Tigerettes (2-6) got some payback on Saturday afternoon when they thrashed the Lady Warriors 53-26 at home.
Coming off a gut wrenching 51-50 loss to Huntland two days earlier that saw them blow a 17-point third quarter lead, the Tigerettes once again got off to a fast start on Saturday and raced out to a 24-10 lead in the first half.

The Marshall County Tigers (3-1) recorded their second straight blowout victory on Thursday night when they went on the road and crushed the Huntland Hornets 81-44.
Despite playing for the first time in 13 days, the Tigers looked sharp early on and led by as many as 31 points in the second quarter before taking a 47-23 advantage into halftime.
Marshall County continued to distance themselves from Huntland (3-3) in the second half and outscored the Hornets 34-21 over the final two quarters to roll to the 37-point victory.

The Forrest Rockets (8-1) suffered their first defeat of the season on the mat to a powerful Beech (7-2) squad Thursday at a Harpeth quad meet, but bounced back with a pair of wins over the host Indians and Clarksville Northeast.

Marshall County High School two-sport standout Aaron Hobbs' dream came true last Wednesday in Lewisburg when the Tiger senior signed a Letter of Intent to play baseball next year at Freed-Hardeman University in Henderson.
"I always have had a lot of family down there, I liked the campus when I visited it, and they have been really good the last couple of years, so I wanted to be part of their program," Hobbs said about attending the NAIA school that is a member of the TranSouth Conference.

The Cornersville Middle School Lady Bulldogs (8-4) completed the season sweep of New Prospect on Monday night by defeating the Lady Tigers 25-23 at home.
CMS had beaten New Prospect 32-22 in their previous encounter on Oct. 24, but the Lady Tigers appeared they might even the score in Monday's contest after building a 21-16 lead early in the fourth quarter.
The Lady Bulldogs, however, stepped up their play down the stretch and outscored New Prospect 9-2 the rest of the way to escape with the two-point victory.

On Monday night, the Cornersville Middle School Bulldogs (8-4) extended their current winning streak to four games by pulling out a thrilling 37-36 overtime victory over the New Prospect Tigers at home.
New Prospect had defeated CMS 39-19 in their previous encounter on Oct. 24, but the Bulldogs stood their ground in Monday's contest and held a 16-15 lead at halftime prior to opening up a 26-20 advantage at the end of the third quarter.

The Tigers, meanwhile, completed the season sweep of Fayetteville by whipping FMS 48-27 in the second game of the evening.

The Forrest Rockets fought hard and battled throughout their district opener at Eagleville before prevailing in crunch time to garner a tight 46-42 triumph over the Eagles.
Lucas Pruitt tallied a double-double for the Rockets, scoring a game high 12 points, while pulling down 11 rebounds, including his biggest board of the night on a rebound and put-back with 1:37 remaining in the contest, putting Forrest in the lead for good.

On Friday night, the Forrest Rockets (2-4) let their guard down at an inopportune time, as they squandered a 10-point fourth quarter lead en route to dropping a 48-46 decision to the East Hickman Eagles at the Forrest Thanksgiving Tournament.
After taking a 31-24 lead into halftime, the Rockets opened up a 45-35 advantage with 3:15 left in the fourth quarter and appeared to have the game safely in hand.

For the second straight year, Creek Wood survived an upset bid by the Forrest Lady Rockets, as the undefeated Lady Red Hawks (6-0) defeated FHS 52-45 on Saturday afternoon at the Forrest Thanksgiving Tournament.
After taking a 23-17 lead into halftime, Creek Wood opened up a 42-32 advantage early in the fourth quarter before the Lady Rockets (4-2) came storming back and tied the game at 42-42 with 3:55 left.

The Forrest Lady Rockets took the floor for the first time in their Thanksgiving Tournament on Wednesday afternoon in Chapel Hill versus Cascade and the hosts ended up carving out a solid 56-45 win over the Lady Champions.
"We played hard, we didn't play our best, but we played hard and did some good things," said Forrest head coach Jeremy Jean. "Our mid-range shot was horrible tonight, so it was good to have Brothers chip in with those threes and get some other threes from some of our other guards."
It was the third win in a row for Forrest (4-1), who led for much of the contest, but had to stave off several runs by the Wartrace girls.

After seeing head coach David Junkins resign earlier in the week, the Marshall County Tigerettes pressed on under interim coach Jerrie Henry on Friday night when they defeated former District 12-AA foe East Hickman 45-36 in the Forrest Thanksgiving Tournament to pick up their first victory of the season.
Marshall County (1-4) built a 24-15 lead in the first half before opening up a 39-24 advantage early in the fourth quarter en route to claiming their sixth straight win over East Hickman (1-4).

The second seeded FMS Rockets got off to a mildly slow start before revving up the engines and exploding past Eagleville in a 47-26 first round win in the 52nd Annual World Tournament in Chapel Hill Monday night.
"It's always nice to get that first win," said FMS head coach Randy Toombs. "I thought we drew the hardest team, because we only beat Eagleville by five points over there and by seven here, so it was a fun and good win."
