Non-Conference foe Mt. Pleasant came to Chapel Hill for Thursday night's homecoming activities and it turned out bitter sweet for the hosts as the Lady Rockets mashed the Lady Tigers 60-20 before the Rockets finished off the festivities with a 51-35 loss to the Tigers.
In the girls' game, Hailey Collins jump-started the Lady Rockets with four points to start the contest before Mt. Pleasant managed to come back to within one point at 7-6 on a three-pointer by Katelyn Haywood.

There is nothing better than a homecoming night sweep and it came to fruition Friday night in Lewisburg, as the Tigerettes and Tigers both held off Cascade in the first ever District 12-AA matchup between the two schools.
The Tigerettes beat the Lady Champions 40-38 in a seesaw affair that went down to the wire with Homecoming Queen Allison Hargrove delivering the go-ahead three-pointer with 1:52 remaining in the contest.

The Cornersville Bulldogs (4-11, 2-4 District) snapped a four-game losing streak on Monday night by going on the road and defeating the Hampshire Hawks 87-81.
Cornersville appeared they would win the game in regulation after opening up a 71-66 lead with :33 left in the fourth quarter, but the Hawks (7-7, 3-3 District) closed the stanza with a 6-1 run to send the game into overtime tied at 72-72.

The Lady Bulldogs buried Hampshire (5-9, 1-5 District) early and built a 27-9 lead in the first half.

Playing their third game in four nights, the Cornersville Bulldogs (4-12, 2-5 District) didn't appear to have much left in the tank on Tuesday evening when they lost 58-40 to Columbia Academy at home.
The Bulldogs hit the wall early against CA while Columbia Academy (14-3, 5-1 District) built a 31-15 lead in the first half with the help of a dominant second quarter performance.

After defeating Columbia Academy 56-38 just three days earlier, the Cornersville Lady Bulldogs completed the season sweep of the Maury County private school on Tuesday when they beat CA 47-36 at home.
Similar to their previous encounter, the Lady Bulldogs (10-6, 6-1) took control of the contest early and built a 24-13 lead in the first half. Cornersville then opened up a 43-27 advantage midway through the fourth quarter before claiming the 11-point victory.

Coming off a 68-34 victory over Murfreesboro Central Magnet three days earlier, the Marshall County Tigers picked up a big District win on Tuesday evening when they went on the road and defeated the Spring Hill Raiders 60-48.
The Tigerettes, meanwhile, suffered their sixth straight loss after dropping a 37-34 decision to Spring Hill in the opening game of the night.

The Forrest Rocket wrestling squad had a very busy week, beginning with a stellar third place finish at the Creekwood Invitational on Saturday.
"We wrestled well in the Creek Wood Tournament," said Forrest head coach Kyle Stacey. "There were several teams from our region at this tournament; however, everyone has a tendency to pick up their game around tournament time."
The Rockets accumulated 158 team points in the event, while second place Summit tallied 174.50 and the Independence Eagles took home top honors, posting a 187.50 score.

David Roberts, an eighth grader at LMS was recently awarded an East Bay Youth Football All-American tag, competing on the East squad in an ESPN 3 broadcasted game at the Alamo Dome in San Antonio, TX on Jan. 5.
Roberts and his parents spent the first week of the New Year in San Antonio, practicing with his new team that included top-notch players from all over the United States.
"We are more than pleased with the experience David gained," said his father David. "He was playing with and against the top players in the country."

The Huntland Hornets evened the season series with Cornersville on Thursday night when they defeated the Bulldogs 66-43 at CHS.
Cornersville (3-10) had beaten the Hornets 72-65 in their previous meeting on Dec. 27, but Huntland (5-10) turned the tables on the Bulldogs in Thursday's contest and built a 29-18 lead in the first half before outscoring CHS 37-25 over the final two quarters to pull away for the 23-point victory.

"We didn't want to let this slip away, but it did," said Forrest head coach Jeremy Jean. "We played good defense, holding them to 39 points, but we didn't block out good at all, they got too many second chance baskets and that is what got us."

Cold shooting proved to be the undoing of the Cornersville Lady Bulldogs on Thursday night, as they lost 51-40 to the Huntland Lady Hornets at home.
After taking a 23-14 lead into halftime, the Lady Hornets saw their lead swell to 44-26 midway through the fourth quarter.
Huntland then held off a late charge by the Lady Bulldogs that saw CHS cut the deficit to seven points on two different occasions to claim their third straight win over Cornersville.

Although Page (3-9, 1-1 District) came into Friday's contest mired in a six game losing streak, they dominated the game early on and led by as many as 17 points midway through the second quarter before taking a 19-9 lead into the break.

In the boys' game, E.A. Cox had a chance to even the season series with the Tigers (8-6), but LMS pulled out a hard fought 44-41 victory thanks to a frantic fourth quarter comeback.
