Forrest's chance for redemption versus Community went sailing away Tuesday night in 2-1 loss at Unionville as the Rockets wasted a stellar one-hit performance by Tanner Garvin with some untimely defensive mishaps that cost the Chapel boys the Region 5-A title. "We had a lack of discipline at the plate, we were swinging at bad pitches, getting the barrel and the hands under the ball, and popping the ball up," said Forrest head coach Chris Parker, who has led the Rockets to sub-state berths in each of his first two seasons. The Forrest Lady Rockets were prepared for the big test that was before them in the Region 5-A title game Thursday night versus a stout Houston County squad and they responded with a rock solid performance that resulted in an 8-1 win over the Lady Irish at The Field of Dreams in Chapel Hill. "I am very, very proud of everybody's effort, I just can't say enough about them and I just want them to maintain the intensity that they had tonight," said Forrest head coach Becky Cheatham. After suffering a heartbreaking 5-4 loss to Columbia Academy earlier in the day, the Cornersville Bulldogs (16-13)were denied their second straight District 11-A tournament title when they dropped a 9-3 decision to CA in the championship game on Thursday night at Mt. Pleasant School. The two teams were locked in a 1-1 tie through the first three innings of play, but Columbia Academy (21-10-1) broke the game open by crossing home plate seven times over the next three frames to forge an 8-1 lead en route to claiming the title. more

The Forrest Rockets showed some serious guts Monday night in the Region 6-A semifinals at Nashville Christian School as they came away with a 3-0 win over the Eagles, setting up a Battle Royal in the region title game Tuesday night versus archrival Community in Unionville. Forrest ace Logan Hollingsworth turned in a solid clutch performance on the mound for the Rockets, scattering five hits in the 90-pitch, complete-game shutout, while walking one and striking out three Nashville Christian batters in the contest. more

The Marshall County Tigerettes (15-14) stayed alive in the District 12-AA tournament by going on the road and crushing the Cascade Lady Champions 12-2 on Tuesday afternoon in the first round of the loser's bracket. Cascade had swept the season series against MCHS, but the Tigerettes showed that they had vastly improved since that time and jumped out to 6-0 lead in the top of the second inning. more
The Forrest Rockets turned Monday's misfortune into a Tuesday sweep, beating MTCS 3-2 in the District 9-A loser's bracket final before claiming a dramatic 3-2 win over Community in the nightcap, setting up a winner take all contest Wednesday night versus the Vikings in Chapel Hill. Bryce Oliver's two-out eighth inning pinch hit RBI single capped off a wild game versus Community, who could have claimed the hardware with a win. more
The Forrest Lady Rockets do not like being number two and they made a big stride towards being number one again when they beat Moore County 5-3 in Tuesday night's District 9-A Tournament winner's bracket final in Lynchburg. "It was a very good game, I wish we could have played a little cleaner, but you know what, we had the willpower to get it done and that's what counts, we got the 'W'," said Forrest head coach Becky Cheatham. Pleasant High School. Having split the regular season series with CA, the Bulldogs got off to a fast start and built a 4-0 lead through the first three and a half innings of play. Columbia Academy (18-10-1) sliced the deficit to 4-3 in the bottom of the fourth inning, but staff ace David Looney carried Cornersville to the finish line by snuffing out two CA scoring threats over the final three frames to help CHS hold on for the one-run victory. more

The Tigerettes had won the last 15 meetings between the two teams and had outscored Page 26-6 in three games this season, but the Lady Patriots didn't seemed phased by the recent history of the series on Wednesday and held a 1-0 lead through the first four and a half innings of play. more

On Friday, the Marshall County Tigers (18-11) saw their season come to an abrupt end when they lost a pair of District tournament games at Christ Presbyterian Academy. After falling 9-4 to the second seeded CPA Lions (22-10) in the second round of the tournament, the Tigers were forced to make a quick turnaround and dropped a 1-0 decision to the Cascade Champions (19-13) in the loser's bracket later that evening. more

The top-seeded Forrest Rockets, coming off a bye in the first-round of the District 9-A Tournament, narrowly escaped an upset bid by No. 4 MTCS Friday night in Chapel Hill when they broke a 3-3 tie with two runs in the bottom of the sixth inning that held up in a 5-3 win. "We got tee-shirts made up that say District 9-A is the SEC of Class-A baseball and I think every baseball game that has been played in the tournament show far has proved that and this one did too," said Forrest head coach Chris Parker. "I knew we have been through some adversity and I knew we would battle back and now we have to go do everything we can do to get the next one, because that guarantees us a spot in the region." more
