On Friday night in Columbia, the Marshall County 15-year old all-stars opened up the Babe Ruth District 8 Tournament with a big 21-7 win over the host squad from Maury County and on Saturday, head Coach Mike Bailey's boys blasted longtime foe Giles County 16-1 in four innings.
Marshall County fell behind 3-1 in Friday night's opener before a five-run third inning put them ahead for good.
Maury County would cut the lead to 8-5 in the bottom of the fifth, but Marshall County scored seven runs in the sixth and crossed home plate six more times in the seventh inning to complete the blowout win.

After losing 6-2 to South Williamson in their opening game of the 14-year old Babe Ruth District 8 tournament, the Marshall County Tomahawks bounced back by defeating Columbia 22-11 in the first round of the losers bracket on Friday night in Lewisburg.
The Tomahawks actually trailed 3-2 through the first three innings of play, but overwhelmed Columbia after that point, as they exploded for 18 runs over the next three frames to forge a 20-3 advantage before cruising to the blowout victory.

The Marshall County 15-year old All-Stars turned in a super nova performance Monday night, capping off a clean sweep of the Babe Ruth District 8 Tournament with a 17-2 run-rule win over Giles County in the title game.
"I'm really proud of the guys, they played great ball the entire tournament," said head coach Mike Bailey. "They hit the ball hard all over the park, our goal is to hit the ball hard every time up and they did that all tournament, up and down the lineup. We got good pitching and defense as well, but I tell them all the time teams will quit if you hit the ball all over the park and that's what we've done the entire tournament and I just hope we can carry that on to the state."

After battling their way through the loser's bracket, the Marshall County 11-year old All-Stars had to settle for second place in the Cal Ripken District 8 tournament, as they dropped a hard fought 5-4 decision to the Lawrence County Wildcats in the championship game on Monday night at the Richard Cashion Sports Complex.
Needing to defeat the Wildcats twice in order to win the title, Marshall County trailed 4-2 through the first five innings of play before rallying to tie the contest at 4-4 in the top of the sixth inning.

Coming off a 7-5 victory over Giles County the previous day, the Marshall County 11-year old All-Stars advanced to the Cal Ripken District 8 championship game by defeating the South Williamson Shockdawgs 8-5 in the loser's bracket final on Monday night at the Richard Cashion Sports Complex.
Having beaten Marshall County 9-8 in the second round of the tournament, South Williamson held the upper hand early on in Mondays contest after inching out to a 2-0 lead through the first two innings of play.

On Friday afternoon, the Marshall County Dusters (17-7) suffered their third straight loss when they were defeated 7-0 in five innings by the Coffee County Red Raiders at Blackman High School in the Boro Classic.
Having narrowly defeated Coffee County 2-1 in the Crethan Hansert Memorial Tournament last weekend, the Dusters appeared they would go down to the wire with the Red Raiders again after the two teams battled to a 0-0 tie through the first three innings of play.

Aided by strong performance from starting pitcher Andy Dugan, Diamond Simcox Academy held a 3-0 lead through the first six innings of play before holding off a Duster rally attempt in the top of the seventh inning to hang on for the one-run victory.

he Marshall County Dusters (17-5) had their six-game winning streak snapped on Thursday afternoon when they lost 5-4 to the Summertown Eagles at Blackman High School in the Boro Classic.
Marshall County held a tenuous 4-3 lead through the first six and a half innings of play, but the Eagles conjured up some late game magic and pushed across two runs in the bottom of the seventh thanks to a hit, a walk, and an error to escape with the victory.

Having lost their first three games at the Boro Classic, the Marshall County Dusters (18-7) ended the tournament on a positive note when they whipped tourney host Blackman 15-1 in five innings on Friday night.
With Blackman playing many of their younger players, the Dusters gave the youthful Blaze squad a trial by fire, as they built a 10-1 lead through the first three innings of play before tacking on five runs in the top of the fifth to cruise to the mercy rule shortened victory.

The Marshall County 12-year old All-Stars were eliminated from the Cal Ripken District 8 baseball tournament in bizarre fashion on Sunday afternoon when they were forced to forfeit in the loser's bracket final after battling the South Williamson Spartans to a 6-6 tie through seven innings of play.
Marshall County held a 6-2 lead through the first five innings of play, but the Spartans mounted a frantic rally in the bottom of the sixth and crossed home plate four times in the frame, highlighted by a two-out, three-run homer by Caleb Lanford, to knot the score at 6-6.

Having already sewn up the 2014 Marshall County Babe Ruth League championship, A-Plus Collision Center (11-1) ended their season in fitting fashion by defeating the second place Elks 8-1 in five innings on Tuesday night.
APCC held a 3-1 lead through the first four innings of play before erupting for five runs in the top of the fifth to bring the mercy rule into effect.
Aided by their late offensive flurry, A-Plus Collision Center finished with six hits and six walks against two Elk hurlers. Jarvis Lyttle (2 RBI) and Tristan Underwood (1 RBI) both tallied two hits to lead APPC at the plate, while starting pitcher Brayden Gentry (1 RBI) and Jarmaria Ridley each had one hit.

On Monday night, A-Plus Collision Center (10-1) officially dethroned the Elks as the champions of the Marshall County Babe Ruth League when they defeated a mistake prone Nichirin squad 9-1 in five innings to claim the 2014 title.
After knocking off the second place Elks three days earlier, Nichirin looked to topple another title contender on Monday, but APCC quickly doused their upset hopes by building an 8-0 lead through the first three innings of play before coasting to their 10th win of the season.
"It's a great feeling. These guys took care of business all year," said A-Plus Collision Center coach Mike Bailey.
