The Marshall County Tigers (3-1) put on a show for middle Tennessee high school football fans when they crushed a previously undefeated Columbia Central squad 67-35 on the road in the My TV 30 Friday Night Rivals Game of the Week to claim their second straight victory over the Lions. Despite committing three turnovers in the first half, the Tigers built a 28-14 lead through the first two quarters of play before opening up a 42-21 advantage midway through the third period. more
The Cornersville Bulldogs went toe-to-toe with Forrest for much of the game Friday night before the Rockets put up 35 unanswered points in the second half to win the Battle of the North and South going away 49-14 at "The Rock" in Chapel Hill. "We were very fortunate, the score is no indication of the game," said Forrest head coach Matt Kriesky. "Cornersville came out and out coached us, they were more physical than us and they came out ready to play tonight. Although they showed significant improvement over last year's postseason performance, the Cornersville Bulldogs golf team was knocked out of the playoffs on Tuesday when they finished eighth out of 14 teams in the District 11-A-AA tournament, which was held at GreyStone Golf Club in Dickson. The Bulldogs shaved 31 strokes off of last season's score and finished with a 365 on GreyStone's rolling par 72 layout after taking the top four rounds from five golfers. more
The Marshall County Tigers golf team once again qualified for the Region 6-A-AA tournament by finishing third out of 10 schools in the District 12-A-AA tourney on Monday at Lawrenceburg Golf and Country Club. MCHS improved on last year's District tournament performance by eight strokes and posted a team score of 329 on the par 71 course after taking the top four rounds from five golfers. more
Buford Ellington Golf Course, inside Henry Horton State Park, was the site of the District 9A-AA Tournament on Tuesday as 75 golfers teed it up in hopes of earning a region berth and keeping their seasons alive, and after all the shots were fired and putts sunk, it was Cheatham County winning the boys' event and Whitehouse High School taking the girls' bracket. more
In one of the most well played and exciting games in recent history, the FMS Rockets trailed Eagleville 14-8 with 2:46 remaining in the game before an exhilarating 99-yard punt return for a touchdown by Wesley McCoy secured a 16-14 win over the Eagles at "The Rock" in Chapel Hill Thursday night. "That's by far one of the best games I've been involved with in any kind of sporting event, it was a great game," said FMS head coach Bart Joyce. "I'm just so proud of the boys, I can't say that enough, they all work so hard. They did it, it was nothing that I did, so I am so proud of them." more
Despite a stellar performance from goaltender Alexis Ford, the Marshall County Tigerettes (2-4) saw their modest two-game winning streak come to an end on Saturday afternoon when they were defeated 1-0 by the Lincoln County Falcons in Fayetteville. Having lost 3-0 to Lincoln County last year, the Tigerettes hung tough early on in Saturday's contest and battled the Lady Falcons to a 0-0 tie in the first half. ... more

The Cornersville Middle School Bulldogs (3-0) locked down another opponent on Thursday night, as they pitched their third straight shutout by defeating the South Giles Eagles 18-0 at Sam Davis Park in Pulaski. South Giles had won the last four meetings against CMS, but the Bulldogs controlled Thursday's contest from start to finish and built a 12-0 lead in the first half before tacking on another TD on their opening drive of the third quarter to take home the 18-point victory. more
Coming off a respectable eighth place finish at the Keith Maxwell Invitational in McMinnville two days earlier, the Marshall County Tigers (14-3) got in one final tune up before the start of the District 12-A-AA tournament when they defeated the Forrest Rockets and the Giles County Bobcats in an 18-hole match at Henry Horton State Park. Bolstered by another strong performance from junior Zach Smith, the Tigers posted a team score of 322 after taking the top four rounds from six players. Giles County finished 18 strokes behind MCHS with a 340 while Forrest came in third with a 346. more
The FMS Rockets (5-0) continued their unblemished season in style on Thursday, blasting Fayetteville 48-8 in Lincoln County. "It was a good game, a convincing win," said FMS head coach Bart Joyce. "The boys fought hard and they continue to work hard." Eighth grade running back Wesley McCoy ran wild versus the Tigers, gaining 245 yards on just seven carries in the contest, including touchdown runs from 80, 54, 50, and seven yards out. more
The undefeated Forrest Lady Rockets (5-0, 2-0) came up with a huge 4-2 road win in Unionville on Monday, scoring two second half goals, while throwing a defensive blanket over the hometown Viqueens. Forrest head coach and Community graduate Natalie Dennis said after the match, "This win meant more to the entire team than any win we will have this season." It was the first win for the Lady Rockets over the Viqueens since a 2-0 win in 2010 and only the third triumph over Community in eight tries. more
After losing their first two games of the season, the Cornersville Bulldogs came through in a must win situation on Friday night when they crushed District rival Richland 54-24 in Lynnville. Having won four of the previous five meetings against the Raiders, the Bulldogs took the wind out of Richland's sails early and raced out to a 40-18 lead in the first half. Cornersville then tacked on two more touchdowns in the third quarter to forge a 54-18 advantage before cruising to the 30-point victory. more
For the second consecutive season, the Forrest Rockets pitched a shutout over Moore County, but this time it was total obliteration as the Chapel Hill boys crushed the Raiders 41-0 in Lynchburg. Forrest gained 379 yards on offense, while the defense completely snuffed out Moore County, giving up a measly 26 yards. more
You can't hit what you can't catch. The Marshall County Tigers served notice to the rest of District 12-AA on Friday night when they pummeled the Page Patriots 54-30 on the road behind a slew of big plays in their conference opener. Page had yielded just a total of 17 points in their first two games and actually held a 10-6 lead late in the first quarter. The Tigers, however, promptly unleashed 12 minutes of fury upon the Patriots and scored six touchdowns during that span to take a 48-10 advantage into the break before coasting to their third straight win over their longtime District rival. more

Coming off a hard fought 1-0 win over Wayne County five days earlier, the Marshall County Tigerettes notched their second straight victory on Tuesday night when they defeated the Cornersville Lady Bulldogs 5-0 in Lewisburg. The Tigerettes (2-3) took control of the match early and scored three times in the first 20 minutes of the contest to take a 3-0 lead into the break before tacking on two more goals in the second half to claim their second straight win over Cornersville (0-5). more
After recording the lowest score in the history of the program five days earlier against Eagleville , the Cornersville Bulldogs golf team bested that mark by four strokes on Thursday when they cruised to an easy win over the Richland Raiders at the Lewisburg Recreation Center. The Bulldogs (5-5) had two players shoot season lows on Thursday and posted a team score of 163 after taking the top four rounds from five golfers. The only thing that has slowed down the LMS Tigers so far this season has been Mother Nature, who reared her ugly head in Tullahoma Tuesday night when the contest was suspended due to severe weather just before halftime. LMS was well on their way to their fourth consecutive win to start the season, leading 28-6 with 1:16 remaining in the first half when lightning emerged from the black clouds overhead of Wildcat Stadium in Tullahoma. more
Traditionally, the first two weeks of the prep football season schedule are filled with non-conference match-ups that are very important in building a team's confidence, configuring the strategies on both sides of the ball, and surviving with a minimal amount of injuries, while trying to get out of those games with at least a .500 record. more
