The Marshall County Tigers extended their winning streak to four games with a big 42-7 win over Franklin County Friday night at Preston Hopkins Field in Lewisburg.
Tiger quarterback Ashton Posey had a career night versus the Rebels, throwing for 417 yards and five touchdowns as the junior signal caller completed 16 out of 19 passes in the contest.
MCHS took an early 7-0 first quarter lead before putting the game on ice, scoring four touchdowns in the second quarter to take a 35-0 halftime lead.

After recording an impressive 5-1 victory over Cascade five days earlier, the Marshall County Tigerettes (3-7, 2-3 District) were unable to match Giles County's offensive firepower on Tuesday night, as they dropped a 4-1 decision to the Lady Bobcats (9-1-1, 4-0-1 District) at home.
The Tigerettes stayed within striking distance of Giles County in the first half and trailed just 2-1 at the break, but the Lady Bobcats began to pull away over the final 40 minutes of the contest and outscored MCHS 2-0 in the second stanza to remain undefeated in District play.

With five games down and five more to go in the regular season, the three county prep squads begin the downward march to the playoffs with the Marshall County Tigers and Forrest Rockets in great shape, while the Cornersville Bulldogs still have some work to do to improve their chances.
After a convincing 36-13 win at Spring Hill Friday night, the AP No. 10 ranked Tigers have won three in a row with the average margin of victory in the three games at a huge 26.3 points per game.

After losing 32-14 to Dickson County in their previous game, the Lewisburg Middle School Tigers earned a rematch with the Dragons when they crushed the Spring Hill Generals 46-6 on Thursday night at home to earn a spot in the Big South Conference championship game, which will be held on Oct. 4 in Dickson.
Spring Hill had defeated LMS 34-20 last year en route to posting an 8-0 record and claiming the Big South Conference title.

The Cornersville Bulldogs (1-4, 1-1 District) suffered their second straight loss on Friday night when they were defeated 40-13 by an athletic Mt. Pleasant Tiger squad at home.
Cornersville offered little resistance early, as Mt. Pleasant (2-3, 1-1 District) raced out to a 33-7 lead in the first half. The Tigers then tacked on another touchdown in the third quarter to open up a 40-7 advantage before cruising to their 12th straight victory over the Bulldogs.

The Forrest coaching staff wore Eagleville T-shirts to practice all week and it lit a white hot fire under the Rockets, who travelled to their nearby foes on Friday and came away with a hard-fought 21-7 victory.
"This is a huge win for our program, this is these seniors first time to defeat Eagleville in their high school career," said Forrest head coach Matt Kriesky. "I'm just so proud of all the guys, I think everybody did a great job this week from the coaches and the players, but we can only enjoy it this weekend."

First-year head coach Thomas Osteen got the better of one of his predecessors at Marshall County High School on Friday night when the Tigers (4-1, 2-0 District) went on the road and defeated a previously unbeaten Spring Hill Raider squad 36-13 that is led by former MCHS coach Tom Turchetta.
Spring Hill (4-1, 1-1 District) jumped out to a 7-0 lead early in the first quarter, but the Tigers eventually settled down and notched touchdowns on two straight drives to take a 14-7 advantage into the break.

On Monday, the Marshall County Tigerettes (2-6) suffered their third straight loss when they were defeated 3-2 by the Middle Tennessee Crusaders at Cook Soccer Park in Columbia.
Marshall County held a 1-0 lead late in the the first half, but the Crusaders seized control of the game by tallying three goals in a span of seven minutes to take a 3-1 advantage into the break. Middle Tennessee then staved off a late second half rally by the Tigerettes to hold on for the one goal victory.

The Forrest girls found out on Monday at the Region 5A-AA Tournament at Champions Run Golf Course in Rockvale that the deeper you advance in the post-season, the stiffer the competition becomes as they saw their season come to end.
"The competition was very good, the winning girls shot lower than usual," said Forrest coach Jeremy Jean. "I am proud of the way our girls played, they didn't get down and quit, they just plugging away."

Despite showing marked improvement from last year's performance, the Marshall County Tigers golf team was eliminated from the playoffs on Monday when they finished tied for fourth in the Region 6-A-AA tournament at Montgomery Bell State Park.
The Tigers struggled mightily on Montgomery Bell's challenging 18-hole layout in last season's Region tournament, but shaved 31 strokes off their score on Monday and finished with a 339 after taking the top four rounds from five golfers.

The Forrest Lady Rockets came out on a mission Tuesday night in Chapel Hill, blitzing the Sycamore Lady War Eagles 8-2 to remain unbeaten on the season at 7-0.
"We didn't come out and strike hard last Thursday at Community, so we didn't want that to happen again," said Forrest coach Natalie Dennis. "I'm just so proud of these girls right now."
Forrest sits atop District 5A-AA with a crucial matchup Thursday night in Chapel Hill versus a Harpeth squad that knocked the Lady Rockets out of the district tournament last season.

Although Cornersville Middle School saw their season long shutout streak come to an end on Thursday night, the Bulldogs managed to keep their record unblemished, as they defeated the South Lincoln Eagles 20-8 at home to improve to 4-0.
CMS built a 12-0 lead in the first half thanks to a pair of touchdown passes by quarterback Eli Woodard before tacking on another TD midway through the fourth quarter to open up a 20-0 advantage.
