On Friday night, the Cornersville Bulldogs fell to 0-3 on the young season when they lost 66-50 to the Moore County Raiders in Lynchburg. Having defeated Moore County 65-59 in their lone meeting last year, the Bulldogs only trailed 23-19 early in the second quarter before leading scorer Tate Lowery was forced to the bench with his third foul. more
The Cornersville Middle School Bulldogs (5-5) swept the season series against Minor Hill on Monday night when they went on the road and whipped the Wildcats 64-38. Minor Hill, however, salvaged a split of the season series against the Lady Bulldogs (6-4) by beating CMS 45-36 in the opening game of the evening. more
With two freshmen in their starting lineup, the Marshall County Tigerettes (0-1) received a baptism by fire to start the 2014-15 basketball campaign, as they suffered an 80-35 road loss at the hands of the Shelbyville Golden Eaglettes (2-1) on Monday night. Marshall County got off to a promising start and held a 23-20 lead early in the second quarter, but the Eaglettes began to assert themselves after that point and closed the half with a 21-6 run to take a 41-29 advantage into the break. more
The Forrest Rockets suffered an early elimination in the Class 2A playoffs, but the squad's hard work was recognized by the coaches in District 9A when 13 Rockets were recently selected to the All-District 9A team, including three of the biggest awards. Senior Zach McClendon, who shattered the Forrest school record in both touchdowns (28) and rushing yards (1,948) in a single was selected as the District MVP. more

The Forrest grapplers picked up where they left off last season, taking two out of three matches in a multi-dual meet at David Lipscomb Academy. "We have a young team this year with lots of kids in the lower weight classes that should make them very competitive," said Forrest head coach Kyle Stacey. "We need wrestlers to step up in the middle and upper weight classes." more
Forrest hosted Cornersville Tuesday night in Chapel Hill and the two squads battled in a spirited game the entire night before the Rockets prevailed 55-42. It was the first win of the year for Forrest, while the Bulldogs will be looking for their first win of the season at Moore County Friday night. more
Shelbyville spoiled Arnett Bodenhamer's debut as head coach of the Marshall County Tigers basketball team, as MCHS dropped a hard fought 62-61 decision on the road to the Golden Eagles on Monday night. After building a 29-24 lead in the first half, Shelbyville (1-2) opened up a seemingly safe 51-38 advantage early in the fourth quarter. more
The Forrest Lady Rockets moved to 2-1 on the season with a big 56-28 win over intra county rival Cornersville in Chapel Hill Tuesday night. Forrest's Caitlin Yost scored a career high 17 points in the first quarter for the Lady Rockets, who went up 6-0 without Yost scoring. more
The FMS Lady Rockets could not get their offense on track in Unionville Thursday night as they fell behind early and never caught up in a 36-23 loss to Community. The Viqueens, celebrating their Middle School Homecoming night before the game, came out inspired as Lexie Cagle drilled a 3-pointer on the first possession of the game. more

Forrest (15-4, 11-0) went to work early versus the Vikings as Daniil Yatskov scored two consecutive baskets, following his own shots in the paint. more

Columbia Academy (12-0) took control of the game early and built a 30-14 lead in the first half before outscoring CMS 29-14 over the final two quarters en route to sweeping the season series against Cornersville. more
The FMS Lady Rockets had trouble handling the ball and putting it in the basket versus Cascade and it resulted in a 40-22 loss in Chapel Hill Monday night. FMS fell to 4-6 in conference play and now embarks on a long trip, not returning to their home confines until the World Tournament in January. Keely Sutton opened up the scoring in the contest for the Lady Champions and Kayla Gillespie matched the bucket for Forrest. more
The Lewisburg Recreation Center hosted their inaugural high school swim meet Thursday when swimmers from Marshall County High School, Forrest, and Cornersville continued their season by competing against Lincoln County, Lawrence County, and Fayetteville. It was the second meet of the season for the swimmers, who comprise the Marshall County Swim Team. The squad continued their winning ways with several top times. more
The Cornersville Middle School Lady Bulldogs (6-3) completed the season sweep of Columbia Academy (2-10) on Thursday night when they defeated CA 21-8 at home. Having beaten Columbia Academy 38-14 in their previous meeting on Oct. 28, the Lady Bulldogs once again had a relatively time with the Maury County private school, as they built a 13-2 lead in the first half before outscoring CA 8-6 over the final two periods to cruise to their sixth win of the season. more
The FMS train continued to roll along in Chapel Hill as the Rockets came up with a 49-36 win over Cascade Monday night to remain unblemished in conference play. The FMS low post duo of Dylan Jones and Daniil Yatskov have been unstoppable so far this season and they continued their domination versus the Champions as both eighth-graders scored 16 points apiece in the contest. more
Marshall County High School athletic director Kevin McGehee's hard work behind the scenes was recently recognized when he received the A.F. Bridges Athletic Director of the Year Award for the 2013-14 school year in District 6 earlier this month. While the head coach usually receives the praise for the success of their respective team, McGehee tries to make the coaches' job at MCHS easier by taking care of the other chores in the athletic department such as helping to assemble schedules and taking care of athletes' eligibility forms. McGehee is also a constant fixture at Marshall County athletic events and serves as the school administrator at most MCHS home games. more

Led by a towering group of frontcourt players, the Loretto Mustangs looked impressive in their opening game of the season when they defeated the Cornersville Bulldogs 80-50 on Tuesday night at CHS. Cornersville hung tough for a good portion of the contest and trailed just 42-33 midway through the third quarter. Loretto's superior size began to take its toll on the Bulldogs after that, as the Mustangs outscored CHS 38-17 the rest of the way to cruise to the 30-point victory. more
Loretto once again had the Cornersville Lady Bulldogs' number, as CHS suffered their seventh straight loss at the hands of the Lady Mustangs when they dropped a 53-34 decision at home in their season opener. Having knocked Cornersville out of the playoffs each of the last four years en route to making the Class A State Tournament three times during that span, Loretto built a 26-15 lead in the first half of Tuesday's contest before the Lady Bulldogs rallied to slice the deficit to 28-22 midway through the third quarter. more
The Forrest Rockets never got off the ground in their season opener Tuesday night versus Ravenwood as the Raptors started quick and flew out of Chapel Hill with 62-36 coast-to-coast-win. "I think it was a typical first game of the season versus a difficult opponent that forced us to make a lot of mistakes," said Forrest head coach Wes Hobbs. "We were very limited in our playbook since our football players only had one practice under their belt and I think that caused our offense to be inefficient for most of the night." more
