All three Marshall County swim teams showed signs of improvement during a meet at the Lewisburg Recreation Center on Dec. 18, as seven local swimmers set personal bests in 10 different events.
The Forrest Lady Rockets turned in a solid performance in the pool and won three of the 11 girls' events. Senior Alyssa Elliot, who has already qualified for the upcoming Region Swim Meet in three different events, led Forrest by winning the 200 meter individual medley with a personal best time of 3:02.33 before placing second in the 50 meter freestyle.

Despite the return of senior forward Jamie Crowell, who missed the last six games due to a sports hernia, the Cornersville Bulldogs (0-8) were no match for Tullahoma on Monday afternoon, as the Wildcats thumped CHS 72-48 at the Richland Christmas Classic.
Tullahoma (2-12) broke the game open early and built a 36-20 lead in the first half before outscoring the Bulldogs 36-28 over the final two quarters to cruise to the 24-point win.

The Cornersville Lady Bulldogs (4-7) defeated Fayetteville for the sixth time in seven meetings when they drubbed the Lady Tigers 68-54 on Monday morning at the Richland Christmas Classic.
Fayetteville (3-8) had split the season series with CHS last year, but the Lady Bulldogs had a relatively easy time with the Lady Tigers on Monday, as they built a 38-24 lead in the first half before forging a 51-29 lead late in the third quarter en route to claiming the 14-point victory.

The Marshall County Tigers (7-5) recorded another impressive non-conference win on Saturday afternoon when they defeated the Franklin Rebels 67-48 at the Overton Christmas Tournament.
Marshall County controlled the game from the start and built a 36-23 lead in the first half before opening up a 45-28 advantage midway through the third quarter.

With a large crowd in attendance, Marshall County High School honored the 2014 Tiger football team Monday, December 15 at its annual football banquet. The event was sponsored by the Tiger Quarterback Club.
Emcee Mike Keny welcomed the crowd and recognized special guests in attendance, which included Director of Schools Jackie Abernathy, Deputy Director Jacob Sorrells, school board members, representatives of radio stations WJJM and WAXO, as well as family members of the Tiger coaching staff, players and cheerleaders.

The Forrest Rocket grapplers finished the pre-Christmas portion of the season with a solid showing at the Battle Ground Academy duals on Saturday, beating St. Andrew's-Sewanee School and the host Wildcats, while losing a pair of three-point matches to Page and Fairview.
The Rockets jumped out to a 20-0 lead over BGA as Harley Sisk opened with a pin over Ian McCullough in the 106-pound weight class.

Spring Hill spoiled the Marshall County bowling team's regular season finale, as the Lady Raiders defeated the Tigerettes 17.5-9.5 while the Raiders whipped the Tigers 22-5 at Galaxy Lanes in Columbia on Thursday afternoon.
Although the Tigerettes (3-9) had just five players for the second straight match instead of the usual six, the Lady Raiders (7-4) were in an even tougher situation and fielded just four bowlers on Thursday.

The Forrest Rockets dropped two straight games last week, losing to Fayetteville 62-48 in Chapel Hill Friday night before traveling to Cascade on Saturday where they fell 58-41 to the Champions.
Forrest jumped out to a 7-0 lead on first-place Fayetteville as Jesse Pruitt scored to open the game and Will Edmonson followed with five points in a row.

Both Marshall County bowling teams suffered losses at the hands of Santa Fe on Wednesday afternoon at Galaxy Lanes in Columbia, as the Lady Wildcats defeated a shorthanded Tigerette squad 19-8 while the Wildcats drubbed the Tigers 23.5-3.5.
Playing three sets with only five players instead of the usual six, the Tigerettes (3-8) actually won 8 of the 15 head-to-head games, but Santa Fe picked up three points due to forfeits.

Speed trumped size on Saturday afternoon when the Marshall County Tigers (6-5) defeated the Loretto Mustangs 60-51in the First Farmers Wildcat Christmas Classic at Lawrence County High School.
Marshall County built a 28-24 lead in the first half before opening up a 45-36 advantage early in the fourth quarter.
Loretto (6-3) then rallied to slice the deficit to 47-45 with 3:49 left, but the Tigers kept their composure down the stretch and outscored the Mustangs 13-6 the rest of the way thanks to some clutch free throw shooting to take home the nine-point victory.

After a pair of heartbreaking one-point losses, the Forrest Lady Rockets returned to their winning ways, beating Fayetteville by 30 points at home on Friday night before the Chapel Hill girls doubled up Cascade 50-25 in Wartrace on Saturday.
"Two one-point losses, especially on the road is tough, but it's better than going to a game and not going to compete," said Forrest head coach Jeremy Jean. "Once we got into our rhythm tonight, we were able to get going and eventually pull away."

The Cornersville Lady Bulldogs saw their 15-game winning streak against District rival Mt. Pleasant go by the wayside on Tuesday night when they dropped a hard fought 55-51 decision to the Lady Tigers on the road.
Playing without three senior starters, the Bulldogs (0-7, 0-4 District) ran into a buzz saw in the nightcap, as they were thrashed 68-26 by the Tigers (5-3, 4-1 District).

On Monday night, the Lewisburg Middle School Tigerettes suffered their third straight loss when they dropped a heartbreaking 25-23 decision to the Fairview Lady Falcons at home in overtime.
Having crushed Fairview 38-15 earlier in the season, the Tigerettes saw their offense go dormant on Monday and trailed 16-10 early in the fourth quarter.

Despite turning in one of their best performances of the season, the Marshall County Tigerettes were unable to come away with a victory on Tuesday night, as they dropped a 61-50 decision to Columbia Central at home.
MCHS (2-8) had been drubbed 77-47 by Columbia in their previous encounter on Nov. 21, but the Tigerettes stayed within striking distance of the Lady Lions (4-6) for much of Tuesday's contest and trailed just 50-45 late in the fourth quarter.

The Lewisburg Middle School Tigers (8-3) completed the season sweep of Fairview on Monday night when they defeated the Falcons 47-31 at home.
LMS had beaten Fairview 60-36 in their previous encounter on Nov. 6, but had trouble putting the Falcons (8-7) away on Monday and held just a 27-23 lead midway through the third quarter.

Columbia Central (8-4) snapped the Marshall County Tigers' four-game winning streak on Tuesday night when they defeated MCHS 67-53 in Lewisburg to complete the sweep of the season series.
After taking a 33-30 lead into halftime, the Lions held a tenuous 50-47 advantage early in the fourth quarter before pulling away down the stretch and outscoring Marshall County 17-6 over the final 5:06 to notch their fourth straight win over the Tigers (5-5).

The Marshall County High School swim team hosted Lawrence County on Saturday in at the Marshall County Recreation Center in the first meet where the new touch pads and scoreboard were used at the Recreation Center.
"Once the diving blocks are installed we will be able to host a top rated event," said Coach Jeff Borne.

The Forrest Rockets were ready for some wrestling Tuesday night in Chapel Hill, sweeping region foes White House and Eagleville by identical 60-24 scores.
"I feel like we wrestled much better tonight, but we have a tough weekend at the BGA Duals that we need to continue to prepare for," said Forrest head coach Kyle Stacey.
