The Forrest Rockets just can't get anything sustainable going with their latest setback coming Tuesday night in Chapel Hill where they lost 53-37 to the Middle Tennessee Christian School Cougars. "Middle Tennessee Christian is a very good defensive team and they do a really good job of exposing your weaknesses and making you take low percentage shots," said Forrest head coach Wes Hobbs. "Early in the game we missed some easy shots and some free throws and got off to a very slow start. This definitely made it hard to come back." more

With a big showdown against defending District 12-AA champ Christ Presbyterian Academy looming on the horizon, the Marshall County Tigers kept pace with the private school powerhouse in the conference standings by defeating the Spring Hill Raiders 77-55 at home on Tuesday night to remain undefeated in league play. After building a 31-22 lead through the first two quarters of play, the Tigers (12-6, 3-0 District) began to pull away in the second half and outscored Spring Hill 46-33 over the final 16 minutes to record their third straight victory over the Raiders (4-10, 0-2 District). more
After a week on a downward spiral, the Forrest Lady Rockets took a big turn upwards, coming away with a hard fought 65-59 win over No. 7 ranked Middle Tennessee Christian School (MTCS) Tuesday night in Chapel Hill. "Tonight we stayed together, we came out swinging like we needed to and played smart," said Forrest head coach Jeremy Jean. "It is all the little things that got us to fifteen wins, but we forgot about those last week and that falls on me, but we are going to get after it the rest of the season." more

The Forrest Rockets travelled to Eagleville Friday and went toe-to-toe with the Eagles for much of the game before stumbling in the second half, costing the Rockets a 76-68 defeat. Eagleville's Calen Parker was a man on a mission, pouring in a game-high 32 points in the low post, staving off Forrest every time they would narrow the gap in the second half. more

It was tough sledding for both Cornersville basketball teams on Thursday night, as the Lady Bulldogs were drubbed 64-32 by the Huntland Lady Hornets on the road while the Bulldogs dropped a 76-47 decision to the Hornets in the nightcap. The Lady Hornets (11-5) stung Cornersville early and flew out to a 22-7 lead in the first quarter before outscoring the Lady Bulldogs 15-6 in the second period to open up a 37-13 advantage at halftime. more
The Marshall County Tigers got some payback against District rival Page on Friday night when they defeated the Patriots 56-42 on Homecoming to record their fourth straight win. After knocking MCHS out of the District 12-AA tournament in the first round last year with a 92-86 upset victory in double overtime, Page gave Marshall County all they could handle early on in Friday's contest and trailed just 23-22 at the end of the first half. more
Despite struggling to find their shooting stroke the entire night, the Marshall County Tigerettes picked up their first District win of the season on Friday when they defeated the Page Lady Patriots 35-31 on Homecoming. After the two teams battled to a 17-17 tie in the first half, the Tigerettes (5-11, 1-1 District) used a 13-7 run to seize a 30-23 lead early in the fourth quarter before staving off a late Page rally attempt to hang on for the four-point victory. more
The FMS Rockets completed a remarkable regular season Thursday night in Lynchburg, beating Moore County 44-25 to cap off an undefeated Duck River Valley Conference regular season schedule at 18-0. "I am very proud of the regular season and what the boys have been able to accomplish, but that is just one of our many goals that we set at the start of the year," said FMS head coach Randy Toombs. "Basketball has so many different seasons, pre, regular, Christmas break, post-break regular, and then tournament. We have taken them one at a time." more

The Marshall County Wrestling Club (MCWC) competed in two big exposures tournament recently, beginning with the Clarkesville Top 100 Tournament that featured wrestlers from throughout the state. Points are awarded throughout the season in many separate statewide competitions to determine the best wrestlers in all the various weight classes. more

Although they had to shake off a little rust from their three-week layoff, the Lewisburg Middle School Tigers (9-3) proved to have too much firepower for Tullahoma West on Tuesday night when they defeated the Bobcats 55-35 at home to sweep the season series. The Tigerettes (4-8), meanwhile, fell to Tullahoma West for the second time this season after dropping a 28-22 decision to the Lady Bobcats in the opening game of the evening. more
