Having been knocked out of the playoffs in the first round of the District 12-AA tournament each of the last two years, the Marshall County Tigers exorcised some of their postseason demons on Friday night when they defeated the Cascade Champions 51-46 at home in the semifinals after receiving an opening round bye. Marshall County (17-9) had swept the regular season series against Cascade, but the Champions (19-9) had MCHS on upset alert late in the contest and trailed just 44-43 with 3:11 left in the fourth quarter. more

The Cornersville Bulldogs (2-22) made an early exit from the playoffs when they were defeated 64-33 by the Richland Raiders in Lynnville on Tuesday night in the first round of the District 11-A tournament. Aided by a strong first quarter performance, Richland (14-13) put the game out of reach early and built a 32-10 lead in the opening half before outscoring the Bulldogs 32-23 over the final two periods en route to advancing to the semifinals of the tournament. more
Cold shooting, turnovers, missed free throws, and a porous defense have been Forrest's downfall all season and it cost the Rockets an early exit from the post-season Tuesday night, losing 51-33 to Moore County in the first-round of the District 9-A Tournament in Eagleville. "We missed some easy ones, missed some free throws, and left some points out there," said Forrest coach Wes Hobbs. "They just outplayed us tonight." more
In just three years, a newfound love has paid off for Forrest's Sierra Waggoner, who recently signed a Letter of Intent to join Freed-Hardeman University's Lady Lions soccer squad next year. "I'm going to play soccer because it's really fun, Freed- Hardeman is a really good school, they have a really good soccer program, and I feel like I fit in really well there," said Waggoner. The Marshall County Tigers were unable to stop Christ Presbyterian Academy's rampage through District 12-AA, as the Lions defeated MCHS 81-58 on Friday night in Lewisburg to finish undefeated in conference play. Having beaten its previous nine District opponents by an average of 38.9 points per game, CPA (25-4, 10-0 District) erased any notions of a potential Tiger upset bid early on by building a 49-27 lead in the first half. more

The Cornersville Lady Bulldogs (9-17) ended the regular season with a thud on Thursday night, as they dropped a 47-31 decision to the Eagleville Lady Eagles on the road. Eagleville (13-14) steadily pulled away from Cornersville and built a 22-14 lead in the first half before outscoring the Lady Bulldogs 25-17 over the final two quarters to hand CHS its third straight loss. more
On Thursday night, the Cornersville Bulldogs (2-21) suffered their third straight loss when they were defeated 75-49 by the Eagleville Eagles (15-11) on the road in their regular season finale. Utilizing their deep bench, the Eagles' saw their offense take off early and flew out to a 39-19 lead in the first half before outscoring the Bulldogs 36-30 over the final two quarters to cruise the 26-point victory. more
The Marshall County Tigerettes' season came to an end Monday night in Wartrace, losing to the Cascade Lady Champions 51-46 in the first round of the District 12-AA Tournament. After trailing 25-16 at halftime, Marshall County exploded with 18 points in the third quarter to take a 34-33 lead, entering the final period of play. more
