The Marshall County Tigers traveled to Forrest Monday and took down the Rockets 6-2.
MCHS led 3-1 at the half before scoring three more goals on the Chapel Hill pitch in the second half.

Marshall County High School got down to business after senior night festivities on Thursday at Reese Hambrick Field in Lewisburg that honored Tigerettes' seniors Mecia Reed, Ashton Watkins, Jacey Perryman, Grace Medley and McKenzie Anderson for their dedication to the program.
"It was very emotional," said Reed. "I want to thank every single one of them because they keep me up."

Playing in a steady rain for much of the evening, the Marshall County Tigers (11-14) stormed past Shelbyville (9-15) on Friday thanks to a deluge of early runs when they defeated the Golden Eagles 15-5 in five innings at home on Senior Night.
MCHS put the game out of reach in the bottom of the first inning and pushed across 12 runs in the frame to race out to a 12-0 lead before cruising to their 11th win of the season.

Although they put up a tough fight, the Cornersville Lady Bulldogs missed a chance to capture the District 11-A regular season championship on Monday night when they lost 16-8 in 10 innings to first place Columbia Academy at home.
After the two teams battled to a 7-7 tie through the first nine innings of play, CA (17-12-1, 9-1 District) blew the game open in the top of the 10th by pushing across nine runs in the frame to seize a 16-7 advantage en route to claiming their second straight regular season District title.

It was familiar turf for Forrest High School coach Bart Joyce, who guided many of the players on the current varsity squad to a Mid-South Conference Middle School title on the same field, against many of the same Huntland players, under the same circumstances, four years ago.
Winner take all was the name of the game for Forrest in Huntland on Tuesday night and the Rockets responded again for Joyce, who has now won his first five games as coach of the big team.

The Forrest Lady Rockets continued its winning ways in Eagleville on Wednesday, sweeping the Lady Eagles in a double header.
"I am really pleased with the effort, especially that first game where we picked up right where we left off," said Forrest coach Becky Cheatham. "We had to make a little adjustment with the different type pitching and we did that, so I am pleased."

Santa Fe once again proved to be no match for Cornersville (8-4, 6-1 District) on the softball diamond, as the Lady Bulldogs' cruised to a 6-0 win to claim their 20th straight victory over the Lady Wildcats (3-5, 1-5 District).
Thanks to Tuesday's triumph, CHS maintained their hold over second place in the District 11-A standings while remaining only a game behind first place Columbia Academy.

Sometimes change is good and for the Forrest Rockets, change was excellent.
The Bart Joyce coaching era in Chapel Hill started with a sweep versus Middle Tennessee Christian School (MTCS) as the Rockets came from behind to win 9-5 in Murfreesboro on Monday before run-ruling the Cougars 12-2 at Forrest on Tuesday.

Considered one of the best all-around athletes in recent memory at Cornersville High School, senior Tate Lowery will get a chance to compete in the sport that he is most passionate about at the collegiate level after signing a letter of intent to play golf at Martin Methodist College on Wednesday afternoon.
Although he is more noted for his exploits on the basketball court and the baseball diamond, Lowery's primary focus the last few years was to earn a college scholarship in golf.

The 2014 season marked the end of a 37 year era for Marshall County High School baseball coach Steve Reese.
On Monday, April 13, the Tigers honored the contributions of coach Reese by retiring his number 12 jersey.

The Cornersville Bulldogs didn't let some early adversity unnerve them (12-7, 9-2 District), as they overcame a shaky start to defeat the Culleoka Warriors 12-2 at home in six innings on Monday night.
Aided by three Cornersville errors, Culleoka (5-11, 3-5 District) held a 2-1 lead through the first two and a half innings of play, but the Bulldogs quickly righted the ship and outscored the Warriors 11-0 the rest of the way to claim their third straight win.

The Forrest Lady Rockets, coming off a big weekend at the Lincoln County Border battle, returned to the Field of Dreams in Chapel Hill Monday night where they run-ruled Columbia Central 11-1.
"I was proud of our girls today, we were pretty solid all the way around," said Forrest coach Becky Cheatham. "I was happy we got almost everybody in the game."
It was the third time this season that Forrest beat the Lady Lions.

Cornersville senior pitcher Mary Taylor Hickman once again out dueled Mt. Pleasant staff ace Alyssa Lemay, as she tossed her fourth shutout of the season to lead the Lady Bulldogs (7-4, 5-1 District) to a 3-0 road victory over the Lady Tigers (11-8, 4-2 District) on Friday night.
Thanks to Friday's triumph, Cornersville completed the sweep of the season series against Mt. Pleasant and moved into sole possession of second place in the District 11-A standings.

Jimmy Nave's coaching stint as Forrest baseball coach lasted a little over seven months; he was fired last week.
"I respect all the time and effort coach Nave gave to this program, he gave a hundred percent and is a professional," said Forrest principal Davy McClaran. "I just felt for the betterment of the program we needed to make a change at this time."
Nave posted an 11-7 overall record and 5-3 in District 9-A play for the Rockets, who sat in a tie for second place in the league standings at press time.

Marshall County coaching legend Bob Edens was inducted into the Tennessee Secondary Sports Athletic Association (TSSAA) Hall of Fame on Saturday, but unfortunately Edens came down with a non-serious illness Friday night and was unable to attend the ceremony at the Embassy Suites conference center in Murfreesboro.
Marshall County now has three members in the TSSAA Hall of Fame as Fred Shelton (1995) and Roy Dukes (2005) were inducted in the administrator category.
