Forrest Middle School remained undefeated on the season after a 37-0 romp over Westwood Thursday night at Manchester. The dynamic duo of "Whack and Wham" did it again for the Rockets as Nick McClendon ran for 164 yards and two touchdowns, and Blaize Sweeney rushed for 133 and two scores. more
The Marshall County Tigerettes continued on an early season tear by walloping a helpless Fayetteville City High team 7-1 in a neighboring county soccer match. "It's pretty exciting so far,"said junior forward Kaylee Apostolico, who scored the final goal of the game. "We're undefeated so far and I hope it stays that way." more

Marshall County coach Thomas Osteen rolled the dice Friday night at John Overton, going for a two-point conversion instead of kicking the potential game-tying extra point. The attempt failed and the Tigers lost 42-41, but it showed that Osteen is playing to win, and that could go a long way in building the program in Lewisburg. "Usually it's my thought to always kick the extra point and extend the game," Osteen said. "However, I felt Overton was gassed and if we got the look we wanted we were going to try to steal a game we didn't deserve to win." more
The Cornersville Bulldogs played the 2015 home opener against former region foe Collinwood Friday night looking to bounce back off a ugly 33-6 loss to Mt. Juliet Christian to start of the season. Despite controlling the the game the entire first half the Bulldogs were worn down by the depth of the Trojans late in the game on the way to a hard fought 35-21 loss. more
Forrest extends shutout streak vs. Moore Co. to three years The tables have turned for Forrest in its long-standing rivalry with Moore County. After decades of dominance by Moore County, Forrest has beaten the Raiders three straight years, all in blowout fashion, totaling 86-0. "This is still a rivalry, it's always been Lynchburg and Chapel Hill and it always will be," Forrest all-state lineman Boone Sweeney said. more

Marshall County's girls soccer team aimed to stay unbeaten early in the season with a home game Tuesday night against East Hickman. Thanks to a couple of surprising sources and some great senior leadership the home team won 5-0, pushing its record to 2-0. The Tigerettes got their first win of the year against Forrest with equal representation in each class with goals by a senior, junior, sophomore and freshman, but this match was all about the seniors. more
The Lewisburg Middle School Tigers, coming off a big win over West Wilson on Thursday, traveled to Harris Middle School in Shelbyville on Tuesday where they had the football six times on offense, while the Eagles possessed the ball 10 times. more
The first week of the high school football season was kind to Marshall County High and Forrest, each of which started the season with blowout wins ,while Cornersville was on the short end of a lopsided score. The Bulldogs are the lone county team playing at home this week, hosting the Collinwood Trojans at Frog Bottom. more

Cornersville Middle School took on Huntland Middle School in the first home game of the season and gave the fans an offensive show en route to a 48-0 win over the Hornets. Cornersville jumped out to a 8-0 lead on a 52 yard TD by Brady Calahan on the very first play of the game and notched the lead up to 14-0 on the next possession as Calahan crossed the field after shaking off a sure tackle and ran 25 yards into the endzone. more
OUNT JULIET -- Cornersville's growing pains were fully evident Friday night. The Bulldogs, opening their season on the road at Mt. Juliet Christian, fumbled seven times and gained only 99 yards in a 36-6 loss to the hosts. Dakota Polk's 5-yard touchdown with 1:58 left in the game got the Bulldogs on the board, and helped them play a relatively even second half after struggling mightily before halftime. more
Anytime you go to Huntland and win it's big, but going down and mercy ruling the Hornets 35-0 is almost unheard for Forrest. "I'm glad this one is over with. That's a good football team right there," Forrest coach Matt Kriesky said of the win, which had a running clock for nearly the entire final quarter. "I know maybe the scoreboard doesn't reflect that. Coach (Bob) Robertson and his staff do an excellent job." more
Offense explodes for 60 points Marshall County started the season the way every coach dreams Friday night, scoring 60 points for just the second time in the past decade in a 60-23 romp over visiting Franklin County. Franklin County drove the length of the field for a quick lead before the Tigers responded with for four straight touchdowns on the way to a 28-7 halftime cushion. more

Marshall County has its hands firmly around the Gary Wells Cup for the fourth straight season, winning the first leg of the 2015 event by a 35-stroke margin over Forrest and Cornersville on Tuesday at the Ewell Butler Golf Course in Lewisburg. "We're not giving the Cup up. It's named after our great coach here at Marshall County, so we want to keep it here as long as we can," MCHS coach Alex Phelps said. "We enjoy this tournament every year. We like to play with our neighboring schools. It's always fun." more
